If Grundstrom can be ready to replace Leo starting the season after next (2018), that would be gravy

If they do start the season with jvr I don't think they'll switch the lines up this much. Kadri will still be their shut down guy so I doubt they play him with marner. I think it might look like

Whatever the top 4 d pairing for the leafs are probably gonna play alot. Unless they sign someone or trade jvr they'll probably keep their top 4 the same for the pk and then run 4 forwards 1 d (gardiner) on the top pp and rielly zaitsev on the 2md

Leafs are good either way. Trading for a dman is probably better long term, but this coming season, it's either an improved dcorps, or an insanely dangerous offense.


So pumped with this signing.

Won't shock me if they trade JVR for Kovalchuk's rights and a couple of other pieces. And I'm not a fan of Kovalchuk, it's just a move I can see the Leafs trying.
