We should sign Kovy to a 2 year deal worth like $8+ mil then offer to retain $5mil in the trade to up the return. Don't need that cap for this year or next and would make moving him easier and the return even better. Don't lose any assets or worry about Kovy going back to Russia and signing with whoever he wants next year.

Grigorenko is the type of guy they need to be targeting, guys who have upside. Yakupov is another, Would rather see them start season, with McLeod and even Zacha in AHL to start. Have them come up playing well in Binghamton for a month or two, being hot when they come up.

As comprised now, they probably have less talent than anyone in the league at the NHL-ready level. So use the year to find talent, like an old-time expansion team used to. (Vegas is not your traditonal expansion team.)

And Shero needs to be ready to move Schneider at the deadline. By the time this is ready to win, his contract will be coming due, and he will be mid-30s. Find your goalie of the future, NOW.

I've been preaching this for a week now, some fans have to realize unless we make a trade or overpay big time (in terms and years) we are not getting top free agents in their prime to come here, that's just the truth. Like you said, pick up younger pieces that might have upside, continue to draft well and then when we start to become competitive maybe then you can try to bring in a big-time free agent (even if we have to overpay). Right now we can't even get mid-tier players to sign here, Shero already said he's only wants to do short term deals now (F&I had it)and most established players want longer terms. This rebuild wasn't going to be quick, we need patience and like you said, maybe moving Cory and/or even Greene might not be a bad idea. Hopefully Blackwood will be that goalie of the future, until then maybe a combo of Kinkaid and Wedgewood could hold the fort for a year or 2. We aren't going anywhere soon so lets do the rebuild right.
