I think he just really wanted to play for the rangers
- shvingter88

100%. In all his interviews he sounds like a giddy schoolgirl about being a ranger.

I'd give Jagr a 1 year deal to play with Hischier or Zacha
- willschulme

No problem with that. And trade him and Boyle at the ddadline.

I just want some conversation. I respect you good people's opinions and want to know what you are thinking.
- TRDevil

I'd love Muzzin, but I don't think it's the time to get him. It'll be in 2 years when the Kings are ready to pack it in for this core. He'll be 30, so he'd have to be a supporting piece and not the solution.

It might be hard to trade someone on a 2 year deal but that's the idea.

Well there's still the question of what happens with Kovy. After that I don't know where else Shero can go to improve the team. He could make a trade but we don't have much we can give up to grab a good top 4 dman or top forward. He'll have to get creative.
- Devilspep87

It took Kovi forever to dicide between LA and NJ, why this time should be any different.

Although I'm not a big proponent of Offer Sheeting, I think we should Offer Sheet Zibanejad at 3 or 4 years, $3.9 Mill AAV. Rangers will obvious match it, but it will really screw them next year when Skjei, Hayes and Miller all need to be re-signed. If the Rangers don't match, all we have to give up is a 2nd rounder. Also Zibanejad can play RW.

Grigorenko- C - 23 points for Avs last year- 23 years old
Chiasson - RW - 24 points for Calgary last year - 26 yrs old
Pirri- W- 20 points for the Rangers last year - 26 yrs old

Scott Upshall - purely energy guy for checking line.

Nesterov- D- 24 yrs old

Either offer a tryout to these guys or sign them on a 1 year show me contract.

Qualify Noesen if they haven't yet.

I think Zibanejad is due to get more than that though. He had a really good season until he got injured. I read somewhere that he could come in around 5 million/yr

Grigorenko is the type of guy they need to be targeting, guys who have upside. Yakupov is another, Would rather see them start season, with McLeod and even Zacha in AHL to start. Have them come up playing well in Binghamton for a month or two, being hot when they come up.

As comprised now, they probably have less talent than anyone in the league at the NHL-ready level. So use the year to find talent, like an old-time expansion team used to. (Vegas is not your traditonal expansion team.)

And Shero needs to be ready to move Schneider at the deadline. By the time this is ready to win, his contract will be coming due, and he will be mid-30s. Find your goalie of the future, NOW.

Or we wait a year and offer sheet Skjei.

Apparently Kovy wants 3 years/6.5+. Might be very difficult to trade without retaining salary.

what competent 3/4 d-man is available?

realistic moves to be made are
1) sign and trade kovy
2) trade for JVR
3) sign yakupov
4) grigorenko?
5) beg Hall and Schneider to stick it out 1 more year
6) let the kids play
7) Henrique+ for galchenyuk

1) Let's hope so
2) Pass
3) Definitely pass
4) Whatever, sure
5) They're under contract, they can't go anywhere
6) That is what is going to happen
7) Prefer to trade for a RW (Neiderreiter, Silverberg)

If the Devils traded to say ANA, a deal for Vatanen and Cogliano would make sense without retaining.

If that is really his demand, I'm disappointed this isn't done already.

I'm betting he wants some kind of no trade protection, where he determines what teams are acceptable. That's probably the hold up.

Well, the hold up is probably that he doesn't want to play for the Devils, wants that contract, and wants to play for one of the few teams he wants to.

I'm still hoping we get a 2018 1st rounder for him, although the longer this goes on, the more that hope dims.

+1. I'm not against bringing guys in. I'm against bringing in vets that won't help anyone like Radulov. But Jagr would benefit all these kids.. for so many reasons.

Eh, not really. Some team is going to feel like they didn't meet goals in FA and will need to bolster offense through a trade. It's not like as time goes on it doesn't happen, unless it's like the start of the season or whatever.

really? I think Zibanejad is worth more than 3.9.. I don't think that would be hurting them that much. That's a fair price for him.
