I remember when Duchene was fist pumping when the Avalanche drafted him.

Holy trollsville, everyone is so choked the Avs haven't traded Duchene. Better blame Sakic for everything that happened laat year. Get a life, NHL is up and down every year, I would love to see Duchene back bc he is a top 6 forward and teams need that to compete, end of story. Do the Avs need to improve? Hell yes, dead laat is unacceptable from any franchise, hopefully we don't have to wait 10+ years like leafs and oil for a mcdave or mathews to come along and sell jerseys.

Actually, no way I'd give up Sheary in this trade. The guy was one of the top 5x5 point producers in the league.

I definitely won't listen to this type of whining from a leaf fan. I won't even harp on the irony. But because the universe revolves around you leaf fans, and that irritates everyone else, I guest I'll make an exception for a leafs fan. The Avs get their 15 minutes of fame and no one can handle that. But when its even remotely about the leafs, and even when it has absolutely nothing to do with the leafs, here come the leaf fans to plug up the blogs, because everyone needs to hear about the Leafs delusional wish lists all year long. It never ceases. But them Avs rumors, how terrible for you.

Sup ya'll, may I ask the back story why Colorado wants to move Dutch so bad? I just don't understand why you'd not want mac and duchene down the middle. Something behind the scenes happen?

It started like... a year and a half ago in the midst of a dumpsterfire season right after making the playoffs the year prior. MTL/TOR media started speculating around trade deadline, which the Avs also just so happened to be in the neighborhood, that it would be a good idea for the Avs to move Duchene.

Then about 400 questions in the span of a week later directly to Duchene himself it suddenly turn from speculation to "apparently the Avs are trying to trade Duchene". Whether or not anything was happening in the front office is beyond me, but everything I read/watched/heard, even the front offices were confused about what was going on and quickly shot down any notion of that holding any water.

Fast forward to end of last seasons trade deadline and pretty much everyone not living under a rock thought Duchene would be traded. Which brings us to present day.... Same boat, same story, same stalemate between Sakic and whomever.

As for Duchene, I can understand just wanting this to get over with. The guy has stated time and time again he would love to stay in COL. THe only thing I think he ture in the sense of him being "checked out" is that regardless of what happens im sure he just wants the questions and bulls__t to stop.

Thanks fellas, appreciate the insight. On the bright side Cal will be up in a couple years, maybe just another down year get some extra picks for Dutch and boom goes the dynamite

Up and down? When have the Avs been up since Sakic took over aside from that one season they were outed in the first round because Mackinnon carried the team? This team has no defense, no goalie and one of their top 2 players wants out. You dont finish last in the league with a measly 48 points because you just had a down year......

That was Sakics first year as GM. He won the division that year, then barely missed the playoffs 2 years in a row and then there's last year. Not all that bad when you think of it in his 4 years as GM. MacKinnon didn't carry the team that year either Lol, more like Varly with some good production from Duchene, Landeskog, Mack, Oreilly and Stastny. Last year atrocious but its hardly Sakics fault. Roy quit at the worst time possible, combined with injuries and just a horrible team effort.

I am one to believe it's too late to "just bring back #9 " and toss him into the locker room as if nothing has happened. Sakic is overplaying his poker face here no doubts about it. A few offers have been very good. Let's face the facts, he's going to walk in 2 years , so he better dam well stop dragging his feet into this coming season. Duchene is simply not worth a kings ransom. He's great at faceoffs, not great in his own zone, and super streaky. I would accept a top Dman and a 1st rounder and move on. I sure hope our current players get the job done, because the AVS have not done a darn thing to improve this team otherwise , even though I tend to agree with not overpaying for fly by night Free Agents. But heh?? Joe was going to bolt to the Rangers for his 18 million signing bonus, just about killed the club to secure him to stay. We don't have a back up goalie now either. So let's all hope that Varlamov will stay healthy as that is obviously their plan between the pipes.
