The contract takes out the primary reason for not wanting him.
- Pete V

Shatty can still hit the open market when he is 32 again. He will be fine

Big news here. Expect a four-year deal:

Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
now
Shattenkirk 4 years x $6.65

- eichiefs9

I was not one that really wanted Shattenkirk but with this contract I'm on board. "ALL ABOARD RANGERS FANS".

I think that's low on a four year term. I'm shocked how much money he's putting at risk but in the end he's a filthy rich no matter what.
- Pete V

Yea you figure you would have to overpay to get the term that low... Instead we pay even less than I thought he'd command over 8 years..

But hey, he always mentioned how he'd love to be a ranger, even when he was on the blues I remember him smiling talking about playing in the garden. We just took advantage of his dream that's all

I can see Sather sitting behind Gorton going "give'm two more years" and Gorton turning around and going "would you shut the (frank) up!!"

And Sather countering with,"You gave him a NTC, right? Right?"

- Fenrir

So they won't have to protect him in the next expansion draft in 3 years when Quebec arrives

So coincidental his 4 years and salary is very close to stepans?

Apparently we are in on Marleau still. Does he even play center anymore??

And what other centers can we sign? We get one and call it an off-season boys.

Rangers could not say no to Shattenkirk, who is in at four years at $6.65M per...a total of $26.6M, substantially less than other offers.

i really hope we find what other team were prepared to offer and what he left on the table.

im hyped rite now, great deal for us and fans but man i cant believe he actually took such a discount

He hasn't for awhile but he can still play it. Upside of Marceau is the old man still has speed.

It's a "REBUILD ON THE FLY" for Hank after all, ...
... and for you also, "21peter"!
It's ironic that Shatty's 4 year term ends after the same season as Hank's does.
