The contract takes out the primary reason for not wanting him. - Pete V
Shatty can still hit the open market when he is 32 again. He will be fine |

I think that's low on a four year term. I'm shocked how much money he's putting at risk but in the end he's a filthy rich no matter what. - Pete V
Yea you figure you would have to overpay to get the term that low... Instead we pay even less than I thought he'd command over 8 years..
But hey, he always mentioned how he'd love to be a ranger, even when he was on the blues I remember him smiling talking about playing in the garden. We just took advantage of his dream that's all |

I can see Sather sitting behind Gorton going "give'm two more years" and Gorton turning around and going "would you shut the (frank) up!!" - KreiderBomb

And Sather countering with,"You gave him a NTC, right? Right?" - Fenrir
So they won't have to protect him in the next expansion draft in 3 years when Quebec arrives |

So coincidental his 4 years and salary is very close to stepans?
Its almost like he exchanged a top 6 C for a top 4 D |

Apparently we are in on Marleau still. Does he even play center anymore??
And what other centers can we sign? We get one and call it an off-season boys. |

Rangers could not say no to Shattenkirk, who is in at four years at $6.65M per...a total of $26.6M, substantially less than other offers.
i really hope we find what other team were prepared to offer and what he left on the table.
im hyped rite now, great deal for us and fans but man i cant believe he actually took such a discount |

It's a "REBUILD ON THE FLY" for Hank after all, ...
... and for you also, "21peter"!
It's ironic that Shatty's 4 year term ends after the same season as Hank's does. |
