We sign Shatty and I think one of those 2 are gone, most likely Holden

Dude, I would let it play out a bit.

Not right yet. If Shatty still has not signed officially with the Devils, despite what I am being made aware of is going to be "certainly" (exact word used) happening via tsn , then for "certain", his holdup is only due to him still wanting to play for the Rangers.
But how much "slightly less" in overall term money do those 2 words mean? As some, including myself and Jan have been saying all along, in that the highest overall money may not be his deciding factor, as dictated by 2 trades of him being nixed to EDM. & TAMPA, then a "certain" signing of him with the Devils is taking very long to be officially announced. That's due only to Shatty's dream he wants to come true, but in a very fair way.
Edit: Elliotte Friedman just said that Shatty would like to make the Rangers happen, but the Rangers ..... , I will just say would rather rebuild, and keep the free cap space. Their off season moves have lessened the depth of this roster to contend thus far.

I'd rather have had neimi then Pavelec for half the money
- Slimtj100

Niemi made no sense for them to sign for either type of rebuild they have in mind.
To re-tool & contend, we needed a Nillson cost type goalie. To rebuild, ... well, Gorton still doesn't want to admit that to be the case just yet. It will be certainly the case if Shatty becomes a Devil or signs elsewhere. Then we will know why they settled for Pavelic, and his .888 SAVE % of last season.

Possible he's using NJ's offer as leverage to get more term.
Honestly if I'm him, (despite saying this against my own team), why would he sign a 4 year deal at 28?
I hope this doesn't fall apart because they will not go to 5 years.

He could get another 4 yrs at 33 and you get to play for your fav team rather then in a swamp.

I do like what the rangers are doing with him tho, they learned not go over in years on deals. They are sticking to 4 yrs, if it doesn't get him oh well.

The suspense is killing me. Luckily I was at work all morning and early afternoon and actually forgot about free agency today.

Sharp back to Chicago
Cammy back to LA
Hartnell back to Nashville

All 1 year $1 million deals, when do we see Jagr back to NY on a 1 year deal?

I said that the other day when his agent was "supposedly" in contact with Toronto. Why would he want to go to another location in Canada where the dollar value is less than the U.S. dollar, after not guaranteeing to sign long term with Edmonton when an agreed upon trade was made & cancelled due to that fact? The much further away distance Edmonton is only part of the reason.
Shatty also wouldn't be willing to ink long term in Tampa, where there is no state tax in Florida, after the Blues agreed to trade him for Drouin. Remember Callahan's additional holdout request he made to the Rangers?
Shatty's agent may just be (hopefully) trying to up a signing offer by the Devils or get one elsewhere, PRIOR TO him giving the Rangers a sort of "discount" off that higher price, in really only wanting to play here.

I dont know about another 4 years, 4 years from now for him. People are already claiming his game is starting to downscale from his years in St. Louis.
I dont think it has but he f they are wary now, he may want an extra year.

That would be a kick in Sather's butt from years ago after thinking Jagr's career was really over for what he had demanded.

or he's doing like every agent would do, take the offers back to NY & hope he flinches. Remember his agent, (as well as him), knows they have ample cap space, as well as not a lot of long term contracts, (staal, hank), hampering them down the road so they can use all of that as a negotiation

Would you say that about the Rangers, but instead, as of already this current minute, after having Deangelo & Kampher as their only signed right handed shooting d'men?

Your first sentence is exactly what I was implying in that post, in being hopeful that's the case, and for the delay why it has not yet been officially announced that he would become a Devil, or sign with some other team.
