I think Gagner is essentially Jim Benning's version of Hansen. Can play top 6, bottom 6. I am not really sure either where he fits either.

Very true. He's versatile and I get he can bolster the PP…but even strength scoring is an issue and I'm not sure we can surround him with the same talent here (as he had in CLB) to succeed. Plus I watched him a lot in EDM and he seemed to struggle vs the big western teams. Having said that though if Benning can surround him with the right line mates he could be successful here.

It's a good fit. Now Miller and Kesler can hug each other when they are dumped out of the PO's next year.

Heard this morn that we are probably picking up Nilsson/Gagner/MDZ and Burmistrov... honestly if all these deals are cheap and short term they really aren't that bad, we could really squeeze some offence out of these guys.
- Crazybagoham

Burmistrov is a shrewd pickup IMO if true. Kid showed massive upside last year in ARZ with 14 pts in 26 games. I'm on board with MDZ and Nilsson as well. Gagner 'could' fit but some pretty smart shuffling will need to take place. But I also like the fact that Benning is giving Green pieces to work/build with in his first year as coach.

No doubt right?

Kesler can mentor Miller into his Natural Born Loser program!

I see Gagner on Sutters wing. Sutter has a good shot and Gagner a good pass.

2.5 million for a stop-gap backup goalie at 27 years old is actually quite good. Nilsson wasn't great, but wasn't bad by any means last year. Mason to the jets at 4.1 AAV is 2.1 too much.

Colin Wilson traded to COL for a 2019 4th round pick. WTF. How did Sakic do that?

Yep. Plus Nilsson was on pace for a better save % last year at .923 where Miller was .914. We get Nilsson at almost a third of the price as Miller and we get a better save %

Nice work Benning.!

Even with these signings, I still expect the opportunity to pass on another Tkachuk at the draft next year. #Brady #Canucks #FreeAgentFrenzy

Got to play alongside Kesssel on a 3rd line. Behind Crosby and Malkin. Who pays a 3C 4 million! Other than JB with Sutter...

Nashville was going to buy him out. Trust me, Sakic will never do anything good

Johansen still needs to be signed though. Duchene has been linked to NSH. If the top 4 D are untouchable, someone else significant will have to be going back.

Gagner had 50 points and cost us $3.15MM. Way better deal
