anyone who is questioning the Canucks rebuild with the acquisition of 27 year old "veteran" players.
The addition of these players not only provides time for the "kids" to develop in Utica, but also provide a good veteran presence when the kids do get the call up (injuries do happen). Jim Benning signing these players to low cap hits (3 mill for Del Zotto and Ganger) is extremely appealing to cup contending teams in the upcoming years. Essentially, when you sign decent players to cap friendly contracts as a rebuilding time, your hope is that they can provide a stop-gap, while hopefully bringing you assets in their final year of their contracts. The Gagner and Del Zotto trades are extremely good trades. If Burmistrov can get 10 goals but next years trade deadline, he could be a nice rental option for playoff teams. - Codes1087
2 of the 4 signings are just replacing what was there last yr.
Del Zotto replaces Sbisa
Nillson replaces Miller
The only real additions are Gagner and Burmistrov. Good additions cause of the injuries |

Perhaps he scores 25-30 this year and has trade value. He had the worst luck I've ever seen last year. - CanuckDon
He will be better this yr. WD didn't play him right. Never had a consistent linemates. |

in a perfect world, We would also sign someone like Dwight King. Have a 4th of Dwight King - Dorsett - Burmistrov.
To me, Gaunce would be best served playing with good players in Utica and picking up some offence. |

I like it. Gaunce, Chaput, Dorsett or Megna is not included.
From now on, everyone who posts potential line combos that includes Gaunce, is getting flagged and anthrax sent in the mail to them. Fair warning. - Brooks_Light

I am not as critical of his play like most on here. I think he played very well defensively last year. He was always in position. He hasn't really had offensive players in Utica when he was there. Valk and Archibald and Grenier and Zalewski were their "offensive" players. I think if we can send a bunch of kids down, including Gaunce, he might be able to pot some goals and get some confidence again. |

I watch quite a few Kelowna Rocket's games, great entertainment. It also gives you a bit of insight on draft prospects. |

Thanks Donny. Not trying to pump JB's tires, but more so trying to bring some perspective on these signings. People I know will question the direction of a rebuild with these, but it really does make sense when you look at wanting kids to develop as opposed to rushing them. - Codes1087
It probably means Goblin, chaput, Virt, Magma and Dahlen will start in Utica which is awesome. The team has more depth and the kids can develop on a winning team in Utica. |

Gino Reda on Ryan Miller: "We believe Ryan Miller is going to Anaheim - 2 years, $4 million." #Canucks - VANTEL
It's a good fit. Now Miller and Kesler can hug each other when they are dumped out of the PO's next year. |

I have a feeling Chaput will be looking to sign with a team where he thinks he can play in the NHL. Ideally Canucks sign him to a two-way contract, but I think he walks. Virtanen, Megan, Dahlen, Goldobin, possibly Boeser, Chatfield, Brisebois, Molino all in Utica is EXACTLY what we need. |

Doubtful Boeser will se any time in Utica. Some shrewd moves by Benning it appears but I am concerned about Gagner... |

The whole league is great value and entertaining. WHL games are great as well. Seeing these kids bust their asses verses some of the crap we see with the Canucks. |

I think Gagner is essentially Jim Benning's version of Hansen. Can play top 6, bottom 6. I am not really sure either where he fits either. |

Heard this morn that we are probably picking up Nilsson/Gagner/MDZ and Burmistrov... honestly if all these deals are cheap and short term they really aren't that bad, we could really squeeze some offence out of these guys. |

I'm not a huge fan either, but I'm hoping it means we can move on from Sutter, I'm definitely okay with Gagner playing 3c. Especially with Wingers like Boeser/Baertschi etc that he can set up. |
