I'm not gonna get in a pissing match about whose defenders are better, but it's pretty rich that an oilers fan would call another team's d core less than league average
- jcragcrumple

I get it. We had the worst in the league for 6-7 years. The Larsson trade was huge for us. It allowed players like Nurse and Sekeras to play down the line up and not over their heads. Benning was a great college free agent addition.Russel was ok as a middle pair defender.Klefbom has arrived as a legit top pair D. Check the stats. Defence was not an issue for Edmonton at all last year.
Believe it or not, our bigger issues revolved around scoring.
The 'Oilers have a weak D' is an out of date narrative used by lazy, jealous dummies.

Ok, you want specifics.....
Stop thinking Kane.
Take a look at who moved today. Think outside the normal drival of tradable assets. Look at the cap situation.

I love Pach's analysis, but that drives me nuts

I haven't read the blog yet.

Who's and whose isn't not quite on the level of your, you're or their, there, they're. They're not even pronounced the same! But it is pretty bad.

He's a nice player, but he's 3rd pair on a good team. And he's definitely not worth his salary
- jcragcrumple

Disagree, he's a solid 2nd pairing guy.

I'm not saying we should sign him tomorrow if he wants to stay, but certainly during the off season would be nice. He's a UFA and they need to know what the deal is. If he's staying there's no reason not to extend him. Unless he totally poops the bed this year, which isn't likely given his all out effort every game, or he totally blows up this year. Again, not very likely. He is who he is. This year won't change his value much, unless he does something monumentally stupid, but that could happen in year 3 of 5 too. It's poop or get off the pot time.
- Wetbandit1

If he plays really well this year, for the second year in a row, then see what it would take.

Talking about signing him before any of our RFA's is downright bananas.

If they give Kane 6 mil tomorrow, you can bank on Sam Reinhart wanting that or more

He was second Pair on LA's roster , and they were defending champs, top pair in Carolina and 2nd pair on a very good Oilers team.
About the only teams he would be 3rd pair are Nashville and Anaheim....maaAybe Calgary....but those D's are rediculous deep.

I get what you did there. Just for the record:

Exactly. On a smart board you're a top pair poster. The other guy is a minor league e call up at best.

You have said Kane the last two times you posted. Trade deadline was one, don't remember the other.

With Pominville coming in he could take Reinharts minutes in the top 6 for a year or so and they wouldn't have to pay a RW 4-5 mil who scored 8 5v5 goals and 17 total last year.

Top pairing minutes, bottom pairing suppression

Meh. RFAs have little to no leverage, Jack has more, but as long as they're not being ignored and they're working on his/their deals too the higher priority is always the UFA.

He is full of poop. He used to post here all of the time until people hurt is feelings.

Buffalo is getting a downtown open football stadium.

Ryan Miller for Datsyuk.

Ok, so he's a top pairing guy?

Not really sure what you're saying with this. His shot suppression isn't great, but neither is Risto's and that's being polite. And he's a top pairing guy.

Seems to be an abundance of defensive depth beyond the top 6 all of sudden.
Seems today's trade moved some down the list.

And a shortfall in left handed LW'ers all of a sudden?
Couldn't imagine the organization thinks Fasching or Nylander ate ready.....yet. But lets say for hypothetical, Baptiste is already on his way to the big club, and may be Bailey ad well. With RW all of a sudden flush with depth, somethings gotta give maybe?

Really said to much already. Go to cap friendly, study the cap.

Once again, have a great 4th all.......

And oh, I can confirm Vanwk is interested in Buffalo.

I just looked. Only 5% humidity. 80% is too much, but 5% is not enough. 40% is perfect. That way you can still breathe and at the same time you don't breathe out half a gallon of water a day.
- Wetbandit1

I know some people have trouble with the really dry air. I wondered how it would affect me, but honestly it really hasn't at all.
