If SJS is up against the cap, I wonder if they would consider moving Joel Ward. I know we don't really need another RW, but:

Okposo
Reinhart
Pommer
Ward

Is really nice looking. Last year of his contract

I think you guys had a really good week or so. Very impressed with the low
Cost moves your GM made. Sure, no huge impact players on their own, but collectively, you're looking at a completely different defence, and added some quality leadership and scoring up front....and didn't spend like a drunken sailor.

What is the fascination with Jagr, we don't need a 45 yr old player. People keep saying we need to give our young guys a chance and now people want an over the hill Jagr ? not a chance.
- SABRES 89

I just think there is more of a possibility of Jagr being here than Vanek...

Never said they were ideal fits.

Also Botterill wants our young guys to win first in the AHL.

Jagr would be here just to sell jerseys.

I call a spade a spade, and give credit where it's due. GMTM was a bonehead, I said so, and you call me a troll.

You guys still need a legit top pair defender to play on the left side but at least now you can try a few different things.

Iginla works for that too, and is probably better.

Out of the 3, Vanek is the most productive

Almost every team needs a legit top pairing guy on one side

Jagr had 2 less points but 3 more goals than Vanek

It's a toss up.

Jagr would put more people in the seats I think

Yes even the playoff teams.

Ottawa has Karlsson and ?
The Rangers have ?
Montreal has ?
The Oilers have ?
Chicago has Keith and ? Seabrook is not that guy anymore

There isn't a team in the NHL minus Nashville and Anaheim (maybe Carolina too) that isn't looking for a stud on the blue line...

They are few and far between to find a legit true #1 pairing

That $1.3 million might in fact hurt...

It would be better to eat half of his salary this year and trade him somewhere

- Stripes77

I doubt it will...
but yeah, sure
Eat half & trade him
Obviously a better option

Might even be able to get a 4th/5th if we do that

I was thinking when the Sabres got Pominville it may have given them some comfort to trade Kane even though they play opposite wings. It gives them a productive wing 5 v5 and 2nd PP but they are going to need to get at least 1 more productive LW

Huh?
We have 6+ defenseman

If we can trade Bogosian, ok
But if not...
the return for Kane (if traded) would be best being a young prospect dman

And Pittsburgh keeps showing us how depth & goaltending are what wins now in the playoffs
Granted they have Crosby & Malkin

But still goes to show...
there's many different ways to win in the NHL[/img]

most those teams 2nd best defender is much better than Scandella , and they have depth. Your blueline is improved, but if you think its as good as 'most teams' in the NHL then I guess you'll be left wondering why you missed the dance again, because it isn't particularly clear to you.

If they move Kane and don't bring a LW back they have zero guys to play on the top two lines to play on the LW unless they are planning on having Bailey, Baptiste and Nylander fight it out...

They needed a LW before trading Ennis now with him gone there is an even bigger need (Foligno is gone as well) so trading Kane doesn't make sense.
