I know signing players to offer sheets is taboo in todays NHL, but there is your #1 center (from a division rival!) no less. And I truly believe they could OS him at the level of only 1 first, 1 second, and 1 third round pick compensation and Washington would STILL be forced to let him go.
Capitals have not managed cap well while going for Cup ( sound familiar? ) but they are in bad shape going forward. Might be time to take advantage.........

Nash- UFA - Vesey

Honestly Jan, no need to write about either of the bought out players. Theyre not going to fit in. The players that can help are Sam Gagne and Martin Hanzel. both can move right in to the line up and you can Hanzel centering Fast and Grabner. Gagne can play anywhere in the line up. The one interesting story that started yesrtruday was the idea of sending and offer sheet to Leon Draisaital. That would be huge! A player thats 21 and would automatically solidify the 1st line center position for a decade! Send a sheet for $11.5m/ for 7 years. Its very possible that Edmonton match it but if not do we really want Jeff Gorton making draft choices with the next 4 1st round picks anymore anyway? Send the offer sheet. It would be HUGE!!!!
