This is not exciting news. Coupled with an aging and inconsistent Lundqvist, doesn't bode well going forward.

could also indicate that Chris Nell may be in the mix this year too

Well, at least other teams will be need to keep their head up when he's on the ice.

I think we need to see what they look like when the dust settles, but the goialie news is not great.

Pavelec has solid experience and is still under 30, so I don't necessarily hate it. But I would've preferred someone else.

That could be tough!

One time I was juggling my beer, a joint and my camera while a huge Blue Heron perched on a dock about 6 feet away. Pretty cool sighting. And I managed to keep everything dry!!

Ok, actually thought he was older. He's gonna be called upon more than people realize this season.

Oh, beer in a kayak can be done. Trust me.
Nothing like a little wake 'n' bake with a brew on a glass-like northern Ontario lake in the summer time. #cleanliving

That's good news. But I could see him playing 30, possibly 40 games.

If Hank suffers an injury, or struggles, as he has the past few years, his playing will increase accordingly.

I'm not going to call it ideal, but it wasn't that long ago that Pavelec was on fire in the Winnipeg net! I'd say with Benny to work with him, he can be just fine. Unless he can't handle negative energy from the fans. Then he's (frank)ed!

Goaltender Anders Nilsson likely to sign with Vancouver tomorrow

Not good unless we can get Bernier in here somehow cheap, Calgary got a good deal for Lack, paying only $1.375

- KreiderBomb

Bernier was making over $4M last season. They didn't part with Raanta & Stepan's $6.5M cap to invest close to $4M of it to back up Hank.

Many early next season will be sorry that the Rangers rid themselves of Stepan's cap hit, in having AS DEMANDED BY ARIZONA, for Raanta (at $1M) to be included in any trade for them to do so. That was the hold up point with the trade, after all the other rumored players discussed were to be coming this way initially.
As a result, they also lost out on including Raanta in a better & larger size deal to acquire Trouba and who I would have asked for in that deal in promising, Michael Hutchinson (at $1.15M for 1 season left), after having an off season as well, following his prior 2.39 GAA. Winnipeg had contacted Gorton on multiple days in the 2 weeks prior to the trade/waiver freeze for Raanta to be their #1 starter.
So they lost out on the BEST & LOWEST COST backups available, to now sign Pavelic who was earning last season $4,750,000 with a $3.9M cap hit, to back up Hank???
Ever since his groin or leg injury sidelined him a few seasons ago, Pavelic has never been near the level he was at earlier in his career, including having a 3.55 GAA and a poor .888 SAVE % last season. Even at 1/2 those signing numbers, this would be a wrong choice.
That's not smart investing of Stepan's cap savings, and may signal the start of a rebuild instead of one on the fly, especially if Shatty is not signed here. Just imagine if for a low ranked NHL team if Raanta were to have better numbers than both Pavelic and Hank!!!

Going fishin tomorrow. Want to come?

And by fishing I don't mean what you do at Fire Island in daisy dukes and a mesh 1/2 shirt.

- mdw7413

The Rangers now with Gorton as GM will begin to fish tomorrow with Sather manning the boat off some small pond somewhere instead. That will at least prevent Gorton from fishing for big Sharks that will cost him too much to bring in for the sake of making something big happen, that would work out good very little in the end without having that necessary RH shooting offensive d'man once again. Dan Boyle may even be needed to come out of retirement.

I don't care about his high 3.55 GAA last season for that Jets team, but a .888 SAVE % is BAD, along with not landing him for at least double Raanta's cap hit, after he made $4,750,000 last season.
