So i was looking at the other teams that are rumored to be in on Shatty, to be honest the team with the best "position" to offer him is the rangers. He is garanteed to be our #1 top pairing. and on a team competing for the cup. outside of money - why would he sign in NJ? they are in rebuild mode. TB - is he even in their top 2 pairings? and BOS- is doing a similar build on the fly thing.

if it isnt about money, i definitely think he signs here. I would not be opposed to $6.5M for 4-5 years. anything more i take a pass.

boston has like $40m tied up in 5 players.
in NJ they will expect him to be "the man" & play a ton of minutes w/o a whole lot of support
in NY he will slide nicely into a top 4 with lower minutes and not expected to be the defensive savior

Flyers acquire Brian Elliott. I remember years ago when their fans were one time so against them after acquiring Vanbiesbrouck, since they really wanted Richter. The goalie drama lives on in Philly so much that Hextall may resign as GM to play in the net again there himself.
Edit: I forgot that he was a free agent, and am now surprised on how this move (now appearing to be a F.A. signing), could have been made official prior to July 1st, unless it was a "sign and trade" move by Calgary.

Tampa Bay said now to be in "heavy" to possibly sign Shatty, and also interested in Duchene. If Duchene, it most likely cannot be without a third team involved, since all along, (unless changed), Sakic has wanted an upper level d'man in exchange as the key piece, along with holding up other GM's for much more.
