People longed for a superstar, we get a superstar but then don't want to pay a superstar. Sometimes I feel people would rather go back to the days where we had one of the best prospect pools, routinely contended for 7th, 8th, 9th place and super stingy on cap spending.

I'm fine with it for Jack..... I just don't think Sam deserves that yet.

Jack stays healthy last year and he was at a 75 pt season clip.

You guys will be paying Matthews 12M next summer... Nylander and Marner also in that 7-8M range at least.

I don't doubt that number for Matthews. Nylander and Marner will have to put up similar or better numbers this year to those of last year to get that money and even then I think it might be a stretch.

I don't care if its not applicable but he pots 30 goals and 30 assists in EVERY NHL video game I play. I just put him on the wing with a speedy center and he cleans up the goal PERFECTLY from LW.

Do you think that the TML play last year will be able to be matched again or was it kind of a flukey year like FLA had a few back? No doubt they have great talent but I'm just not sure it is sustainable. Don't take offense. Just trying to ask an honest question.

I've been saying this as well. Their backend is really what struck me as overacheiving. I think their forwards are good but I could see the defensemen and goalie coming back to earth a bit more this year.

I don't think flukey is the right word. They have lots of young high end talent and it's only going to get better. But I agree that they were very lucky to be so healthy all year. If Matthews was out for as long as Eichel was we would have picked 8th instead of you guys.

Their back end over achieved??? Rielly was terrible for half the year and Gardiner wasn't much better until the playoffs. Defence was our downfall. I don't know how our defence over achieved.

I think that expectations were a bit lower so what they did seems to be that much better. I'll be curious of what they do now when expectations are set at making the playoffs. Like you said, injuries always play a big role in a teams' success.

Same goes for an EDM team that went to game 7 of the WCF.

EDM got knocked out in the 2nd round. It was the Ducks/Preds in the WCF.

Sign Jagr and trade him for a 3rd at the deadline if we are not in the playoffs.
