what is wrong with you?
i understand you're not used to seeing elite players on Toronto after years of Finger, Lebda, Komisarek, Jason Blake, Matt Stajan etc., but why would you not want to see Joe Thornton for 1-2 years on the LEafs?? - MaximusAurelius
Jason Blake, when we got him, was more productive than Thornton last year.
He ain't elite anymore, and he isn't what we need. |

His mock rosters and trade proposals are unreal. - gravyface
they keep us entertained. |

Who's basically a wash with Bozak, but we need him.
Do need a 4C though; Gauthier is probably going to need another year in the AHL or at least most of it to rehab. There's really not a lot of depth in the organization at center right now.
Boyle would be great again, but he's not coming back I'm guessing; they're not even talking to him, so I'm guessing that he said he wasn't sticking around long ago. - gravyface
He's "new" b'y..Thats imp for many Leaf fans.. |

Many teams in the market for a center have connected with Nick Bonino. At least 10 teams are said to have serious interest at this stage
Trade Kadri and sign this guy...Get er done Lou
He has to be Elite....Right b'ys?... |

as said, Thornton is better than JVR, no matter what their respective ages..
so if it makes the team better, you add him. - MaximusAurelius
I'm not even sure you can make that claim definitively. Last year Joe Thornton went from a career PPG guy to a guy who put up a rate of .62PPG last year. That's a drastic one-year drop. Even looking at the advanced numbers, he played most of the year with Pavelski, with Marleau and Hertl being the interchangeable third piece. All of their numbers are actually better without Jumbo on the line.
Even looking at basic numbers all indicate something the eye test confirms - Joe is really slowing down.
I'm not trying to malign him, because I love Thornton, but he is not the guy you bring in to be the veteran example (the pro), the veteran leader, the guy with the cup rings, and so on to show the kids what it takes.
I don't think Marleau is that guy either.
In typing this, I was trying to think of who that 'guy' is now. I'm not sure anymore. |

If we can sign him and Marleau for 2 seasons at like 3 each(maybe 4 for Marleau), I'd welcome it. |

I'm trying to think of a recent cup winner that brought in
that guy and it actually made a difference. |

He'd be hard pressed to be an improvement to Bozak at this point... I doubt he'd put up 43 assists as 4th line C.
If we trade Bozak for D help, he'd be a decent addition, until Nylander is ready to move over to c. |

Gauthier's injury sucks. The kid showed he was ready for the NHL last year. He's going to be a better NHL player than Boyle ever was imo. |
