Christopher Ilitch will shake things up soon enough. They need to tear things down a little. I was a bit surprised to see that the wings are a cap team, some bad contracts for sure. If they unloaded a couple, maybe bought one out and started collecting picks, they could turn it around fast. Easily one of the best fan bases in hockey.

Coming this September only on the CBC... It's the all new hit tv show Keeping up with Paul Byron.
Episode 1: Byron takes his dog to the park where he has a poop. But no one knows if it's Byron's or the dog?

Marleau is 37, - nice talk about bring your dad to the rink day - shows, insight, intelligence and a great deal of respect. Marleau scored 27 goals last year and has not missed a game since 2009. He currently has the second longest iron man streak in the NHL going. He is excellent defensively and would be an enormous improvement on Ben Smith - unless your IQ is smaller than your shoe size.

Don't take offense. I'm older than Marleau - and half the Leafs roster could have a dad who's 37. The point is they are not just depreciating assets, they are more rapidly depreciating. Joe's production dropped by 40% last year. Marleau scored 27, but he's not the same player he once was (and I will confess I've never been a huge Marleau fan, even if he did score 40+).

If you want to slot them in, then you need to decide who gets bumped - because they aren't signing to play 4th line minutes.

Most of us can agree Hyman can be bumped, but is that Babs thing? Is Marleau or Thornton a puck retriever? So who loses minutes and has their development hampered? Nylander? Marner? Do we sign one of them to trade JVR and then skip Kapanen's advancement?

Williams could at least take Hyman's spot. He's a puck retriever.
