who are the Leafs going to sign as a backup goalie?

I can't see any reason to sign either guy at 38 - not even for a year. It's not bring-your-dad-to-the-rink day at the ACC.

If they really want an old guy for experience or leadership, maybe get Williams - he has 3 cups and is a tireless worker. But again . . who does he bump? The wing spots are largely spoken for.

Marleau is 37, - nice talk about bring your dad to the rink day - shows, insight, intelligence and a great deal of respect. Marleau scored 27 goals last year and has not missed a game since 2009. He currently has the second longest iron man streak in the NHL going. He is excellent defensively and would be an enormous improvement on Ben Smith - unless your IQ is smaller than your shoe size.

based on leafs cap space and LTIR, after re-siging Brown, Hyman, fringe d-men, & backup goalie they don't have much money to spend until horton/lupul go on LTIR.

To me, it only makes sense to make a big splash (will have 10.5mil to spend) at the deadline and gear up for a cup run
