Honestly I'm fine with any of marleau, Thornton type players as long as it's only 1-2 year max contracts.

IMO 5 above have no place on this team anymore (JVR if indeed replacement through UFA/trade).

Leafs sign Moore (1y?) bc of his faceoffs, pk, experience. Other faceoff guy is Hanzal , but surely not a guy for fourth line.

I'd really like Thornton on Leafs for 1-2 years; he is not going to reproduce his best seasons, but a 37y / 38y old Thornton still is miles better than JVR (that's nothing against JVR btw).

1. He is old...so is Jagr
2. Thornton has been "slow" his entire career and even in this "terrible" season he produced like a top-tier centre line centre.
3. Injured? Yes. Most of the time people recover from injuries though.
4. He's better at a lot of things than JVR and this should come down to Bozak vs Jumbo, not JVR vs Jumbo.
5. True, but this is a hypothetical.
6. There are many reasons. He's still one of the best defensive centres in the game. He's better than Bozak and takes him off the PP.
