Why are you calling me a bigot? That seems unnecessary. I don't think Subban is ready for the NHL. I am entitled to my opinion as are you.
- CanuckDon

In a different time Subban would get a legit shot at making the team.
His defensive play is so subpar its the AHL for him.
Who can he out play to make the 7 D is the question?
That or as a call up for injuries if offense is all we want.

So Weal and Gagner are both visiting the Canucks today. Either would be a nice add if the contract is short.

Subban absolutely needs more time in the minors. The worst thing for his development would be to throw him to the wolves and watch him get pounded for 70 games/ or sit him in the press box. I do feel they should give him a couple preseason games so he can get a feel for the pace of the NHL.

I'm undecided if we sign UFA's.
Part of me is curious & tradeable assets.
The rest of me says nyet & go with who we have & draft high again.

I think of Yannik Weber.....
Either scores or is useless.
No harm keeping Subban in Utica on a slow boat to get better IMO

He's spent two full seasons in Utica and shown he produce points. Very few of our prospects have actually spent time in the minors due to poor management, he's the exception. All depends on how he comes into camp, he can earn a shot as a powerplay #7 if nothing else. Hard to do worse than Hutton, and he has more offensive upside than him.

I really don't think they need to bring any forwards in at all. A Dman and a G for depth. Roll with the forwards we have and develop the poop out of them.

I'd like it. No need to rush these young forwards, let them develop.

Hutton and Subban both have defensive issues but the big difference is size. Subban gets manhandled in the AHL has trouble getting burned to the outside. I just think his confidence would be ruined in the NHL. zero rush with the kid in my opinion. I don't think he will ever be an NHL regular. I hope I am wrong though.

His role model is Krug.
Make or break for Subban cuz of size & a big liability.

@Whitelie.

Gaunce has played one season. One. Considering he made great strides defensively on an otherwise horrendous team is encouraging.

I think it's a tad over the top to consider him "stunted" at this point.

- Whiskey-Tango

Yeah I know i'm being harsh on the kid, but really, i don't know how much more of a chance you can give him. i think any team could argue after 70 games and 0 goals, its time to let someone else have a go.

I mean you have Labate, Zalewski, Rendulic, Grenier, Valk, hell even Archibald, none of them have been given more than 10-15 games, I'd think that a few of these guys could score more than once in a season, given the opportunity.

Then you have guys like Boucher, Chaput, Goldy, Rodin, Molino all knocking on the 4th lines door. I guess i think I've seen enough of Gaunce and i'd be happy with seeing someone else get the same shot as he's had. I think that's fair. Stunted is probably the wrong word, but 0 goals in 70 games, it is what it is.... #McCann

According to Detroit head of Amateur scouting, Tyler Wright, they will be having a change of direction. If a prospect is mentally and physically ready they will be trying them at the nhl level.
No longer are they going to let players stew in the Minors anymore.
Seems to be the way of the league nowadays. Speed skill and mental toughness. I expect to see a lot more 20 year olds entering NHL in the next couple seasons.

Our current issues r as follows....

1st line we r stuck with the Sedins in their twilight but still needed.
2nd line is fun but still not a true scoring threat on levels we need.
3rd line is all about Sutter & he does not playmake enough although a 200'er
4th is a dead zone & would be nice for bringing in new blood.

All of the above has 1 glaring problem.
Over all scoring is lacking.
Top 6 r ok but far from dangerous.
Supporting cast is far from pushing from down below.
No threats on the points is a real sore spot.
Many wingers we can pin our hopes on if playmakers emerge.
Holding pattern til prospects mature & develop in the next few years.
Its gonna be a ton of patience indeed.
The pain will come.........

Only Arizona will be worse than the Canucks next season.
Right in line for another 5 OA pick next draft.

I think Arizona will be better, while I think Colorado will be worse. I think Canucks finish around the exact same spot as last year, if not worse.

Is it possible for Colorado to be worse? They finished so far behind everyone it wasnt even a competition
