My favorite is Bill Clement in NHL '16 saying: "it's good to be back for a game in Northern New York." So apparently Buffalo is in the Adirondacks or somewhere near Vermont. Either that, or maybe we're near Poughkeepsie, about a half an hour away from NYC. If someone finds out where we are, let me know

Don't get me wrong, I'm not slamming Buffalo like Edmonton is some mystical fantasy land, I'm just saying guys like Marleau who are still good , but older and haven't won a cup don't tend to go to places like Buffalo unless they think they can a cup right away. Most don't even do that, they go to Florida or California or someplace where their model/Actress wife can elevate their careers....unless you want to grossly over pay them.

Arizona is a nice place to retire. Trade Moulson and eat 2 million of his contract for Jamie McGinn

Can you still trade straight up cash like the Kings did for Gretzky?

Tpegs, offer them 10 mil in cold hard cash

My recollection on Yak's career is based on his coach's recollection of his career.

Todd McLellan had been asked about Yakupov following the trade in October, and (via The Edmonton Journal’s David Staples) offered his honest perspective.

“By the time we had arrived here, the new coaching staff and stuff, it was infected already,” the Oilers head coach said of the winger’s game. “He had a lot of the past baggage that he was carrying with him. We tried to get him going and it worked for awhile with Connor, and then both their injuries derailed that. People wonder, well, why didn’t you put him back there? Because we didn’t. And Ebs created a bond with Connor that we thought was going to be better. It’s as simple as that.

“There’s so many good qualities about Nail, his personality one on one I thought was tremendous with us, with the coaching staff. He was a guy that was little more alone around his teammates but, like I said, he will get an opportunity to play in St. Louis in the top six and see what he does.”

When Yeo took over in STL, he didn't give Yak much of a chance. But before that, Ken Hitchcock:
He’s learning. He’s 50 percent better than he was when he first came here. I think when he first came to us, he was waiting for the game to come to him and that’s not the way the NHL works. It works in other leagues, but it doesn’t work in our league. You’ve got to go and hunt it down and get it and keep it and he’s starting to learn that. He’s on top of people, he closes fast, he makes you panic, he makes you make mistakes and when he plays like that, he’s effective.”

I don't really agree. Okposo signed here and it's not like we paid him 8 mil per

Looking back an Tim Murray's moves, and what seemed to be a willingness to go get a player he wanted at almost any cost, I question whether Okposo would have got the salary and term he got here anywhere else.

The salary doesn't bother me, but the term is a bit sketchy. I guess We'll have to wait and see

Thats sad. Just watched a show on his career a few weeks back. I hope the Edmonton boys, especially Gretz, make the funeral

Getting sense there's still lots of trade talk between #mnwild & the #sabres and #bruins.

No doubt others, but definitely those two

from a wilds perspective how do you think they rank their D corps?

Maybe swap Brodin and Dumba, maybe. But yes.

I mean, Suter shouldn't be movable, but I did trade him + Zucker for Jamie Benn in NHL17

I may be out on a limb here but Suter imo is incredible and may be the closet thing in todays game to Lidstrom. Sound as can be defensively, perfect passing, and also plays a game that should let him play effectively until he's 40.

I mean, I think he's great, but that contract is lengthy as hell.

He's already slowed a little bit
