I'd go after Marleau on a 2yr 9-10MM deal.

I was going to add that if he is in the top 15 in the league on PPG again this year I would not be terribly upset with him. If we can fin a nice 12-15 min per game for him on the 3rd or 4th line and mainly use him on the PP then he is not a complete waste but he must remain productive on PP
- lulags

My concern is that almost anyone can get goals on this PP. He'll, Jamie McGinn got a nice payday after scoring a ton on our PP. I'd rather have a guy who can score 12 even strength, and I worry about finding a different guy to score 8 on the PP instead of 12

What? You're recollection of Yaks career with Edmonton looks like fan fiction to me. That's not what happened at all. Yak has the physical tools, the talent and the heart but no brain for NHL hockey.
He couldn't figure hire it out in St.Louis, with great coaching, and a veteran line up...but yeah, he'll realize he s potential with a World class organization like the Sabres.

- Larsson_fan

My recollection on Yak's career is based on his coach's recollection of his career.

Todd McLellan had been asked about Yakupov following the trade in October, and (via The Edmonton Journal’s David Staples) offered his honest perspective.

“By the time we had arrived here, the new coaching staff and stuff, it was infected already,” the Oilers head coach said of the winger’s game. “He had a lot of the past baggage that he was carrying with him. We tried to get him going and it worked for awhile with Connor, and then both their injuries derailed that. People wonder, well, why didn’t you put him back there? Because we didn’t. And Ebs created a bond with Connor that we thought was going to be better. It’s as simple as that.

“There’s so many good qualities about Nail, his personality one on one I thought was tremendous with us, with the coaching staff. He was a guy that was little more alone around his teammates but, like I said, he will get an opportunity to play in St. Louis in the top six and see what he does.”

When Yeo took over in STL, he didn't give Yak much of a chance. But before that, Ken Hitchcock:
He’s learning. He’s 50 percent better than he was when he first came here. I think when he first came to us, he was waiting for the game to come to him and that’s not the way the NHL works. It works in other leagues, but it doesn’t work in our league. You’ve got to go and hunt it down and get it and keep it and he’s starting to learn that. He’s on top of people, he closes fast, he makes you panic, he makes you make mistakes and when he plays like that, he’s effective.”

The Sabres officially have the most cap space in the league. Because they didn't sign any of their own (frank)ing players.

Leafs have about the same amount as Buffalo. Should be interesting.

So I'd imagine today and tomorrow everyone will know where every FA is going to sign. So hopefully trades start brewing

Well we are stuck with Moulson this year. He is not getting absorbed by anyone. Vegas was our only shot this year. We absolutely need to even strength scoring but it will not be to replace Moulson. It will be to limit Moulsons even strength playing time

We need to find a way to ship him to Robidas Island - he can have the cottage next to Hossa.

I've accepted it too. I'm hoping we add some depth and he can bounce in and out as a 13th forward. Bottom line is, his best case scenario is 15+20 for 5 mil. It sucks

I view that as Murray's 2nd worst deal after DLO/Fasching. Was any other team offering Moulson 5 years after that abysmal showing in Minny?

Arizona is a nice place to retire. Trade Moulson and eat 2 million of his contract for Jamie McGinn
