Hey Scoob just want to point out that Schenn and Simmonds were the only scoring threats last year. So your comment makes no sense. Trading Schenn will haunt this team for the next 10 years as they watch Schenn continue to grow while the draft picks turn out to be nobodies. Who will score of the new group remains to be seen. I hope it is Konecny but if they plan on using Couturier at 2C and on the pp nobody is going to score. I predict Hakstol will be fired by xmas and Hextall to follow. The way I see it this team is self destructing from the worst gm in hockey. Schenn is not replaceable and you will soon see the truth, led the league in pp goals. Looking forward to St. Louis Blues hockey if I want to see a winner. Good luck Flyers you are still my team from despite being a positive person I have bad vibes. If Bernier is the new goalie I will probably vomit. If Weal gets away offense lost, dumb GM

If it's not that difficult, why don't the Flyers and the league as a whole have a lot more 25 goal, 50+ point players in the lineup?
- MJL

You keep bringing this up but it seems a bit contradictory to how you've always reiterated Hextall's stance on not making moves he feels would hurt the teams chance of success now or in the future. He obviously feels the production is replaceable, or else he wouldn't have made the deal.

Yep, but I still believe this coming season the team will be able to cover his lost production.
- Scoob

Flyers were at the bottom of the league in scoring. We need to do far more than cover his lost production. There is no way around it. Losing Schenn is taking production out of the lineup. Now instead of the added young players and hopefully other players improving adding to what we already had they start deeper in the hole.

Gudas is a 27 year old RHD who can absolutely play on a top pair with someone like Provorov. Gudas carries every player he's with. Don't know what reality y'all have, but he IS a top pair guy already. Except dragging up Manning or MDZ.

People have this idea that he'll just move out of the way for Hagg or Morin or whoever. Far more likely outcome is they are never as good as Gudas. He is a unique guy. He's gone from "3rd pair bruiser" to "stopgap top 4" in the eyes of many, yet he's still monstrously underrated. Not difficult to argue he has been the best non PP d man on the team back to back years. Maybe soon people will wrap their heads around that we have a still young-ish #2/3 d man in his prime, who can play with a #1 or anchor a 2-way second pairing, and he is no stop gap. (frank) it, given his cost will likely never exceed his value, I hope he's here for the long haul. He is part of our core in my mind.

There is nothing contradictory about it. You've also badly mischaracterized my statements. What Hextall has said and I have reiterated is he is not against making a move to help the team now, if it doesn't hurt the future. You've got it backwards.

Gudas is not a top pairing defenseman. He is a second pairing defenseman in this league. You're monstrously overrating him.

I think I can imagine how this will be answered but (frank) it, here goes anyway...

Would Provorov and Gudas make a better pairing then Provorov and Amac?

Is this season not the future? Anyway...that is about what I expected. They'll be fine this year. In order the replace the production of Schenn, The Flyers, who scored 2.59 GF/G, will need to score 2.59 GF/G or more this upcoming season.

I'll give you #3 defenseman. But yes this team is better with or without him. Every time Tampa mentions the filp trade I remind them if them signing Carle and than trading us a first that turnwd into Tk and gudas for Coburn.

Yes - I think G and V had uncharacteristically down years last year which was a big part of the problem.

Bottom line - the trade of Schenn doesn't worry me a bit in the short- or long-term.

He's not a "top pair" guy when people picture a talent level, like Sanheim or Myers or Provy. But he does everything in actual hockey value that a guy like that does. People confuse the concept of a "top pair" guy or "top 6" guy with the actual on ice effectiveness of one. They're not always the same. If it walks like a bearded duck.....
