Like the 6, but there is no way I'm putting Hagg on the top pair at this point in his career, maybe someday, but not now. I'd go with:
Provorov-Gudas
Morin-Ghost
Hagg-Demers

the bottom 2 pairs can duke it out for the 2nd pairing role.

Do you foresee Hagg playing any worse than AMac did with Provy?

As of this writing, Hagg is going to be in our top 4 to start. I hope everyone realizes this.

I'm happy with the trade. BSH had the 5v5 Corsi for both players and they're pretty much equal. Schenn's added value is on the PP. We'll probably did a little in PP goals but I also think Schenn benefited from G, Ghost, and Simmer on that PP1. I think Lindblom could get at least a dozen goals in that same role.... and if Patrick, Lehtera, and Lindblom can get better 5v5 results than Bellemare, VDV, and Schenn we'll be in a pretty good spot.

I think we can crack the playoffs this coming year, but I expect the NEXT year for us to start being annual Cup contenders. This year should be a year of hope and promise for a VERY bright future.

everyone female doges and moans about wanting to see the kids and now that we are going to see the kids you are STILL finding a negative. we have been saying we need more high end talent and we got the 2nd pick in the draft and you are still finding a negative. we all complain about the Flyers' old way, while providing fun runs for the most part, but still not producing a championship so they bring in someone who spent time on the outside in Hextall (which people also female doged about the same old same old) who wants to change the way the team operates and you still find a negative. Yes there are still holes and no GM is perfect but Hextall has been reshaping this team and that takes time.

I mean, its this all just trolling for you?

- nastyflyergirl

Schenn was just traded. He's 25 years old. He is a kid. What's the purpose of trading him and bringing in players who you hope can be his equal 4-5 years from now? Not to mention taking a ridiculously overpaid Lehtera back.
Does Hextall think he has this job for a decade +? I mean this is year 4 now they were a playoff bubble team when he took over, and they are in the same boat now. What is the short term plan for the goaltending? Have two journeyman and punt the next two seasons? Banking on one of these goalie prospects being a legit franchise guy is fools gold.

If this was a full tear down rebuild what Hextall is doing, why are Giroux and Voracek still on the team? Let me guess, no one would touch their contracts with a 10 foot pole.

The entire team struggles at even strength last season. In 15/16 Schenn put up top 60 scoring numbers at ES. All of a sudden he's labeled as a handicap at ES. I agree that the return was something that couldn't be passed up and I'm not arguing against making the deal. Simply discounting the idea that he won't be missed and his production will be easy to replace.
- MJL

I didn't say easy, I said not difficult. :-)

Well over 100 guys put up 40-60 points every year. It's not like they're trying to replace an Art Ross winner.

You'd like to think so. Patrick and Lindblom haven't played an NHL game yet. No one has any idea what they will add scoring wise. There just isn't a way to estimate. Is it a lock these guys make the roster? Who knows.
- PLindbergh31

You seem to be able to estimate that goal scoring will be a problem even with a turn over of about 30-50% of the forwards on the roster but please tell us more about the difficulties with estimating the impact of young players.

Per the Winnipeg Sun, the Jets have reached out to ex-Flyers net minder Steve Mason during the free agent interview window.

There were problems scoring last season. Hextall is making changes. I'm good. Let it ride and let's see where we are. Goalie is the only thing that concerns me at the moment.

You can argue it, but it's a flawed argument. How about Simmonds goals? What kind of goals are they? If what you state is true, I'm wondering how come there aren't more 25 goal, 50 point forwards in the NHL? Schenn brought skill and production the lineup, dismissing it on the points you made is a bad argument.
- MJL

True he was a very GOOD player but like ever if gone almost forgotten immediately
Same with most players.Raffl was according to this blog just one week ago gone to Vegas and not needed on Flyers roster.
Now he pops up again as the PK guy to go to

Yeah damn Hextall..building arguably the league's best prospect pool without going full tank the last 4 years. 25 years isn't a kid in the NHL anymore. It's a player in his prime. When an opportunity arises to cash in that player for good value, you make the deal. Figure it out clown boy.

all the things are terrible.

you can't win with this group.

AMG another 40 years without a Cup!

Mason sucks!

And so does the starting goalie we don't have yet!

Hextall is in the 15th year of a 3 year rebuild. Fire him!

We can't score!

Schenn was the bestest Flyer ever, and after 7 years in the org still a kid!

No, it's just that I think if your top pair is going to match up with the opponents best players, it should be Provorov-Gudas. I think Gudas will do a better job in that spot than anyone else currently on the roster. If they don't make any moves, I have no problem with a 2nd pair of Hagg/AMac and a 3rd of Morin/Ghost, but I don't think any of those 4 have any business playing on a top pairing at this point in their careers

Not knowing who your starting goalie is on June 28 is a fool proof plan. I'm not sure why everyone doesn't adopt this strategy.

This team is in a better position now then it was 5 years ago. The window is starting to open and Hextall has them in a way better position moving forward.
