Nashville needs RW, Detroit needs to rebuild.

If Kenny signed 1-2 of these guys he'd clearly be embracing the tank.

DeKeyser-Girardi
Hainsey-Jensen
Ericsson

Ouelette/Sproul rotating in and out of the lineup. Why? Because Kenny freaking Holland!

If Kenny signed 1-2 of these guys he'd clearly be embracing the tank.

Hopefully he can sign a couple of free agents to one year deals then trade them to contenders at the deadline, Then pray that the wings win the lottery draft and pick Dahlin your next Lidstom and stock up the booze for the next year I'll be rough! I am not against it, signing two of Daley, Campbell, Hainsey or Girardi, the Wings are not going to be in it this year, it would allow Hronek, Cholowski Saarjarvi, ect... to play at GR and not be rushed and pick up bad habits from the F troop that is the Wings defense. Then at or near the deadline we deal the signee away as we did Vanek and Ott this year for draft picks and continue to restock a nearly depleted farm system and give the kids a late season recall to prepare them for 2018-19. Sad to say Holland has crashed the organization so badly into the mountain that it is really about all that we have.

The only positive to signing the old bums is that they suck and would help the team tank. Also none of those 3 D you referenced were going to play in DET this year anyways. These old guys would keep Hicketts in GR which would be bad.

I worry about Holland in a panic move rushing the kids which IMHO would be a mistake. I would love to see Hicketts get a crack this year. I saw him in Cleveland towards the end of the year swing his stick like a battle axe and drill one of the Cleveland Monsters across the back of the legs. Craziest thing I saw in hockey live all year. He may be little but he takes no crap and can play.

As far as the old farts, even if we sign two it will be no time before Kronner and E are on the IR making room for Hicketts, lol.

Hicketts has always played bigger than his size.

I don't think our prospects are as bad as people make them out to be. We have hope up front with Larkin, months, AA, svechnikov, and maybe this Rasmussen. Goalies are always obtainable whenever we get halfway decent. The defense is the only thing we don't have. I am curious to see hicketts. Perhaps a couple of our younger d will be something.

Really, I think that if they change their mindset now from thinking they are a playoff team to one going through a quick rebuild by ditching overpriced vets and using free agents to obtains picks (ala vanek) it could go faster than anticipated. That said, I'm not betting on that happening.
