Dan Girardi is out to lunch if he expects along term deal.he would be a good add for any team looking for 4-5 defender but fo 1-2 yrs max. Warrior but pretty worn out,I think.
- Larsson_fan

Nope, he's pure garbage now.

He'd likely make the Marlies worse, let alone the Leafs...

New York was pretty good with him, and they also iced that Garbage Staal guy.

They were pretty good *despite* him.

EDIT: And they didn't buy him out because he was giving just too much...

1.) Pretty sure lebrun or someone said it was never jvr and the 1st. Either way glad they didn't get hamonic.

2. Would like trouba or faulk off that list but not for what dmen are going for these days.

3.) If he's available im sure they'll offer something but probably not the richest offer he'll get.

4.) No. He will want to much money and term. No way he signs for 1 or 2 years. Plus leafs would still have to trade for him.

- HealthyScratch6

So it's Trouba or "Faulk off"?

Bad example. That's like hoping the sun will come up today. What's the point in hoping for.something that you are absolutely certain will happen every day?

McDavid Draisaitl contract watch continues. I'd guess 97 to be in 13m range on an 8 year deal. We'll see.

Viscious!

Insensitive?

Perhaps a little harsh for summer talk?

Remember this is the B team of the Leaf commentariat. If you scorch them too deeply they will run away and hide.

They take great delight in believing they are big and powerful. They become somewhat despondent when reminded that they have been inept and mostly redundant for more than 50 years.

If I remember correctly they got the lowest ranking ever as a sports franchise by ESPN because of their perststant ineptitude. Remarkably it is symbolically character shaping for many of the Leaf supporters posting on this thread. Even though they post differently they understand and share a premordial awareness of betrayal. For so many years, hopes have been raised only to be shattered by the reality of Leaf front office incompetence.

Is this new group a change from the Keystone Kops of the last 50 years? I think so. I hope so.

But we cannot forget. It is just a few years ago that we watched in horror as a Leaf team put on one of the most disgraceful performances ever as they collapsed against the Bruins in the third period. Kessel was blamed and run out of town. It was said by Leaf fans no team could ever win a Stanley Cup with Phil Kessel in their line up. Phil paid for his sins by being banished to a team that has won two Stanley Cups since his arrival. It is all so complex. Yet, if nothing changes, if losing repeats as a pattern, maybe, the curse of Harold Ballard is real.

I believe Leaf fans have a huge ineptitude complex. Individually they are smart, well studied hockey fans. But put them into a group and they turn into a pack of rabid dogs desperate for an an answer to their eternal suffering. Despite all their protestations to the opposite they still tremble in fear. They believe in the inevitability of failure, they support a culture of doubt. Despite all the positive signs from last year, somehow, Leaf fans still wonder if they are destined to collapse again. Serious consideration should be given to starting this season with an exorcism at center ice on opening night. Time to let go of all the feelings of bitterness and betrayal. Let the demons go. For far too long you have had to live with shame and ridicule. Now is the time to cast the demons out.

How many did they win after the 2 signed their big contracts ?? The first one, they were still on their entry level contracts.. is it 1 or 2?

Not sure but what they make now is payment for winning cheap....Trading them though would have fixed cap issues and haul could have rebuilt team in hurry

I don't understand why people believe that rumour could be remotely true after learning it was Steve Simmons who initially reported it. It's bullpoop.
- BetterCallSaul

It wasn't just him. It was reported to have been heard on the trade floor.

They don't have to trade them. When they start slowing down in the last couple of years of their contracts, they will suddenly develop a bad case of diper rash and the cap hit can be avoided.

They've won 3 cups...it's the price of success
Also, panarin has 2 years left on his contract, they didn't have to move him. They wanted to get tougher

I think they won 1 or 2 on their bridge deals and one on his new deal.
