I doubt it
Like I just posted Sids deal was the same cap % ...also as the years go on the cap usually goes up...so it gets better every year

- senstroll

first year of sid's deal was ~15% of the cap. assuming a $2M increase to next year's cap, to me the equivalent to crosby is $11.8M

though i have a hard time seeing him getting paid much more than other top players on his rfa deal.

i think it comes in at 9.5-10.5.

his following deal will be +14M.

you are right, around 15%
12mil sounds like a decent number for Mcd. But I could see him getting a little more even. And he should

It's not a good thing. Matthews will look at that number and use it as a comp.
- RickJames77

He needs to win a Hart and an Art Ross to comp that ticket.

actually this is what I was referring to

Zac Urbackā€ @Zac_Urback
Crosby's first non-ELC contract's AAV represented 17.3% of the cap. If McDavid signs 8-years $106M, his AAV will be 17.7% with a $75M cap.

why is it overpaying?

and Managing players contracts and cap hits is not about what they are worth right this second. You are paying for future production. the point is for the players Value to be more than the contract, which thats a good bet on. Same with Matthews at 10 or 11

You get in trouble paying Lucic 6 mil and Russel 4 mil ..they are not worth the deal for what you actually get in terms of wins from them

bridge deals would be less than that.

i don't think you bridge these guys. 5-8 years each.

bridge rookies in the next crop coming up behind these guys to keep costs low in the short-term.
