I get the last part, but who cares about chiapet and him giving out crappy contracts? Edmonton is the team you'll probably be battling with in a few years so you want them to have those contracts. Also, you don't want to be strapped with a heavy cap hit yourself. You'll wind up losing one of Marner or Nylander if McDavid signs for 13m a year. Book it.
