I could see someone ponying up an extra 3rd, I guess. I like Kane and would prefer to keep him.

But as many here are quick to remind, Kane takes photos with stacks of cash, has legal and civil problems, shoots wide from the boards, and takes penalties.

Serious question: does this team win a championship with Eichel, Reinhart, Kane, Okposo, and O'Reilly locked up for five plus years? Keep in mind, the little room you will have left to address the glaring holes you already have.

6. A kid needs to step up, for top 9 from the rochester core and you need to have difference makers ready to come up and round out your roster on the cheap.

7. They need a winning culture now, not 2 years from now. Otherwise why keep Okposo and Kane

Ullmark may be ready to be the backup, but is he ready to start?

It's reasonable to think that J Botts might not be sold on Lehner...
and just bc he stayed healthy last year, doesn't mean he will this year

So if Lehner is still here, then having Chad Johnson (or someone like that) makes sense for us to have Ullmark in Rochester as a 2nd possible option should Lehner falter in some way
