Age aside, curious how Sens fans compare Methot to Hamonic? I think their game is similar in some regards, and I am surprised to see ppl say Methot sucks. That return is pretty putrid, but he seems to be a pretty decent responsible Dman.

Harmonic is 6 years younger, more than a million cheaper, and a better player........nobody is saying methot sucks, just that his loss is easier to absorb then a lot of the other options (realistic options) would have been. Basically the best outcome of a poopty situation

Why does everyone consider it hate to say that karlsson made the guy look better than he actually is. That's what great players do........crosby turned kunitz, basically a 3rd liner, into a canadian Olympian. Karlsson turned methot, basically a #4, into a 5 mil dman. The fact that nobody was willing to offer more than Dallas (And you know mcphee called everyone) is pretty telling.

You can both like methot as a player and still think he was overvalued based on who his D partner was.

Kunitz has always been pretty good....with or without Crosby.

I really think people need to layoff the Corsi pipe, it's funny watching NHL D playing top mins on NHL teams being called junk by people who can't sport. ( not you, but HB writers )

Pretty sure Vegas could have got more if Methot would have waived to go to a Canadian team.

I still have not heard one compelling argument as to why the Sens didn't go 4-4-1.

It seems like such an obvious move. You can't tell me that Pageau/Smith/Brass are more valuable to this tean than Methot.

I also refuse to believe Dorion is so stupid as to not know this as well. Those 3 forwards are relatively cheap conpared to Methot.

This leads me to believe the mandate was to shed salary. I am sure best case scenario was to trade Phaneuf of have Vegas pick him but the back up plan was to let them select Methot. I bet there was basically zero negotiation to give Vegas an asset not to take Methot.

This whole thing stinks.

Unless Dorion has a plan to spend that money elsewhere this summer, it's hard not to point the finger (yet again) squarely at ownership.
