He has 11-11-22pts in 24 playoff games. How anyone can argue that his body of work in the playoffs is anything short of excellent is beyond me. - eichiefs9
Who is arguing? He hasn't taken over a series save for Florida. That's what I said and ill add he doesn't seem to have that extra gear when it matters. Capitals series, Tampa, that's reality. I know it hurts hearing these things. Take deep breath there's always the Selke next year
Maybe both him and Bailey will be finalists
He's a great defensive player.
Agree to disagree i don't think hes worth it. I think we should sign him none the less like I stated earlier but hes not a 10.5 a yr player imo. Leave it at that Jesus (frank)ing christ |

He was pretty damn good vs the caps and pens, better than ovechkin in that series really. We will all just disagree and that's fine too |

Like i said when it really mattered. He waa invisible in game 7. Good idea let's agree to disagree. This debate has been (frank)ing ridiculous a page ago. I never said the guy was terrible just not worth 10.5 million.
I'm debating with people that think Tavares is a legitimate top end defensive fwd
Like i said let's agree to disagree |

He had 6pts in 7 games against the Capitals, I don't know what he has to do to 'take over a series' or what tangible metric measures "lack of take over-ness".
All of this while Snow got (rightfully) unilaterally slaughtered for not providing him with any outside support whatsoever but now is...also partially Tavares' shortcomings?
I don't get it in any way, shape, or form...but I'll drop it. |

On Halak…
The Edmonton Oilers are a perfect fit and the two sides seem to want to make it happen…
Ek seems to be under the impression that Halak is a UFA |

How can you think he's not worth $10.5m per? He's a top 5 player in the league. Maybe you just need to get laid and calm down. Jesus. - Isleshockeyman

This is a good eye opener on JT. Remember what team he's on.

I don't think he's a top defensive forward but he had a good year defensively his stats are all comparable to other top players and you have to admit he was excellent on the pk - Upstate_isles

One of the LighthouseHockey guys posed an interesting question on Twitter.. TOR is going to be in a bit of cap trouble due to bonus overages and needs to sign Matthews to a now-likely massive deal next year.
CapFriendly
@CapFriendly
Toronto Maple #Leafs 2017-18 Overage: $5,370,000
EOY cap space: $0
Total bonuses earned: $5,370,000
Players earning bonuses: 5
Giving them a 1st and 2nd round pick for Kadri would fill that 2C spot very nicely and let them shed some salary without adding any. Signed for 5 more years at a cap hit of $4.5M.
If we gave both CGY 1st and 2nd picks in '18, we'd have effectively traded Hamonic and a 4th for Kadri. I can dig that. - eichiefs9
If we can't get Duchene and I would be all in on Kadri. Toronto will have to trade him when their young guys contracts are up. |

Interesting quote from Weight regarding Toews:
“He’s played himself into a great conversation,” Weight said of Toews. “We have some great depth on D and it allows you to do some things like we saw last week. Confident kid, great skater, puck mover. When you play like that you’re going to get a look for sure.” |

As a young player, that's what you want to do. Make the coach have some indecision whether to send you back or keep you with the big club. My guess is that he'll be back in the A this season, but good for Toews. |

I think Kadri is a bit of a pipe-dream but if it ends up that TOR doesn't have any other options to clear out money then I would love the guy. His penalty differential is fantastic. He's such a nag that he goads guys into taking penalties, it's a great quality. |
