Further to @TSNRyanRishaug McDavid mention, hearing deal will be around $13.25M for 8 yrs. Big win for EDM to get that term, as opposed to 5

Good lord

$10 mil per just became a home town discount for JT.

Not even I would make that up

Lets just say I was told the 1st round pick and 2nd round pick we traded to The VGK are worthless.

Edit: So yes to answer your question, I beat it to death because its my make up, I'm just a wiener

I realize that the biggest issue for the team right now is 2C but I would like to see us bring in Yakapov on a 1 year "prove it" deal. As the roster stands now he would be a good fit on the 3rd line with potential upside
27-91-7
16-29-12
yak-72-66
25-53-15
86-13

that 3rd line would be scary fast

He's going to f*ck this up for us. JT is going to be sitting there thinking...I need 12.

Why EDM wouldn't want to sign McDavid to an RFA deal for 4 years at 5.5-6 million like JT did is beyond me. I'd rather sign 2 very good players @ 6.25 mil and 7 mil. It woulnd't be elite guys but 2 players that are close to superstars.

I don't think so, honestly. JT and the rest of the world know he's not even close to as talented as McDavid. $10M - $10.5M is more than fair for Tavares, even given the fact that he took a team-friendly deal the last time around.

I say we trade Tavares for a poop ton of 1st rounders and a few good roster players. Offer sheet Draisaitl for 8 million for 7 years. Those four 1st round picks we would lose as compensation...we'll be over that by pretty much the first year

edit: by the way. It's so obvious when we deal CGY's 1st rounder for whoever we acquire... that's going to be the pick that wins the lottery next year. It has Isles written all over it.

I don't specifically recall that, but I wouldn't be surprised. I don't think there was ever a chance that he was taking less than $9.5M. Kane/Toews contracts are more in line with what he's worth.

McDavid/Matthews will both be better players by a long-shot.

I threw out the idea that he'd maybe sign for his number. 9.1 million

Yep.

I almost want to hang onto it just because I think Mike Smith is terrible and, being that the Pacific is so competitive, if CGY sees an injury or two to core players they might get lapped by all the other talent in that division. I'm not seriously saying "don't trade the pick" because of that, but there is a little tiny part of me (cue Vukota: "Yeah, your Richard) deep down inside (this one is also on the tee for you Vukota) that wants to see what happens.

I think he is. He's more talented than Toews and he's making that much, so I have no issue giving it to him.

If we don't have to give up 2 1st round picks...I seriously hang onto CGYs pick like grim death before I let that go. Give away ours. Although our division is stacked as hell too. We might have just as good a chance of winning the lottery as CGY does

Well, at least if we blow ass all year and so does CGY we'll have a shot to pick 1-2 and get Svechnikov and Dahlen.

Maybe that will keep Tavares around.
