I'd rather have the return the Isles got from Calgary than JVR and a 1st, especially after getting Eberle. JVR is only under contract for one more season and likely would have walked at the end of the deal anyway, when the Isles couldn't offer him huge dollars to re-sign with all of the other money they need to spend to keep everyone else. - Jethro09
I agree. JVR was not needed after Eberle and especially not with only one year left. |

Fvck JVR. He's worthless anyway. Get a 2C and perhaps a top 4 D-man and get to work. |

2C is key and adding a 4dman would be great and would allow Pulock to start on the 3rd pairing. |

Arthur Staple ✔ @StapeNewsday
And former NHL goaltender Fred Brathwaite is at camp observing and consulting. No word yet on whether he'll have a more permanent role
Would be nice if Dunham was out. |

We have 7d signed and dehaan as an rfa. Let's see what the kids have before blocking them again. |

No one has mentioned Marleau at all... No interest? Too expensive? Would be a great pickup. |

Been a bit absent lately, but Elliotte Friedman put out his 30 Thoughts a few hours ago. Entire foreword is about Hamonic/Islanders/Calgary, it's worth reading. One or two blurbs about the Isles too, but nothing exciting.

Marleau will turn 38 before the season begins, and I think he primarily plays left wing. Isles need a 2C. Also, I have no idea what he would cost. |

Can't imagine he'd be expect to be highly compensated at this stage of his career, but yeah he is primarily a LW and I don't really see that as good use of cap space. |

Yup, I was thinking the same thing. I think Pelech could begin the season with DeHaan. Pulock and Hickey or Seidenberg on the 3rd pairing. Mayfield as the 8. After Pulock gains experience, hopefully he can replace Pelech on the 2nd line. |

Pelech and de Haan are both lefties though.
My guess is it figures to be:
2-55
44-6
4/50-14
4/50

I hate the idea of Hickey or Seidenberg playing every day. Rather see Toews playing every game over those two. |

Well, we all know that neither Pelech nor deHaan is a Brian Strait, so we need to drop Pelech to the 3rd line. I was trying to start Pulock on the 3rd line until he's fully ready for 2nd pairing responsibilities. Maybe he's the best alternative, however.... |

Eventually, yes. Let's see how his camp is...... Maybe he's ready for NHL action. |

It would be great John. I just cannot take Hickey or Seidenberg playing every game. |

1yr in AHL (i believe) doesnt equate on a dman being ready for NHL |

I agree and wouldn't be rushing toews, but I definitely want to see pulock and pelech both play regularly. Mayfield can fill in when someone gets hurt
