Yeah, but we all want another one. - JimmyP
Yeah but the problem is that we have more starting forwards than we do starting roster spots. Can't really justify sticking a guy with a big cap hit like Kulemin in the press box, someone's gotta go and Bailey has some value. |

I'd like to see Bailey moved, not so sure about Nelson. He has value. Obviously I'd move him without thinking twice for a good player, but I think Bailey could fetch something like a 2nd rounder in '18.
Three second rounders in a deep draft could be a very nice thing to have in your pocket. If we end up keeping both ours and CGY's firsts, we might even be able to trade back into the first round, late. Three firsts in a deep draft year would be a massive win. Would add a ton of valuable assets and potentially free up some others for trades. - eichiefs9

I know his contract is absolute dog crap, but I actually liked the way Kuli played last year. I don't mind him in the lineup. He had a couple of hot streaks also. |

Agreed, he's fine on the fourth line. Plus he goes away after this year anyway. |

Arthur StapleVerified account @StapeNewsday 21s21 seconds ago
Just to clarify, #Isles offer on Friday to COL was Hamonic/1st/prospect. COL wanted much more, as it has all along.
Arthur StapleVerified account @StapeNewsday 15s16 seconds ago
So #Isles went in a different direction with Hamonic and sold high on him despite only futures as a return.
Arthur StapleVerified account @StapeNewsday 44s44 seconds ago
I don't really think #Isles and COL have been close on a Duchene deal. Would've gotten done months ago if the offers had been closer.
Sakic is off his (frank)ing rocker
Cross Duchene off the list, find someone else...time to move on. Let Sakic either get an absurd haul from elsewhere or enjoy the egg on his face when he has to begrudgingly dress Duchene because he out-kicked his coverage on the ask.
Wonder what's going on with Galchenyuk. - eichiefs9
Here's a little something i found on this from the other side, interesting.
Adrian Dater reports sources say the bulk of a report claiming Colorado Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic turning down an offer from the New York Islanders of defenseman Travis Hamonic and a 2018 first-round pick for center Matt Duchene “is untrue”. While Hamonic may have been offered, the first-round pick was not part of the deal. Dater also said the characterization of Duchene’s agent Pat Brisson being “seriously unhappy” is “well overblown.”
Staple protecting Garth's ass again or is this what Garth feed him? We don't know but every story has 3 sides in this case Staples, Daters and the truth. |

I don't know whats worse Having a 4 million dollar wing on the 4th line to compliment 2, 3.5 million dollar players on the fourth line or having him sit in the press box if one of the players with a friendlier cap hit deserves to play over him
Basically I don't care what the GM signed a player for if I'm the coach and he doesn't deserve to play his ass is sitting. Your Cap hit / contract shouldn't in anyway dictate your playing time. |

Well there's certainly two sides to every story. I'm sure that Staple doesn't stand to gain anything by "protecting Garth's ass" and would imagine it's more likely that Snow (and Sakic) are both putting out some misinformation to try and swing public opinion in their favor and put more pressure on the other GM. Staple is to the Islanders what Dater is to the Avalanche, so to "believe" one over the other would be contradictory and one-sided. The truth likely lies somewhere in the middle and is probably a matter of semantics. Maybe they "discussed" a first round pick but it was never "formally offered"...I don't know. It's all conjecture.
It seems somewhat logical to me that Snow would have zero issue throwing in a first rounder, considering he did so with VGK to get rid of Grabovski. Can't imagine that would be a sticking point for him in a deal to land an awesome 2C. |

It shouldn't, but it does.
I'm not defending the concept, I agree with you in theory, but the reality is that it absolutely has bearing on that and the Islanders are far from the only team in the NHL to operate that way. |

Maybe the Islanders can just become communist and we can pay every forward, defense man and goalie the exact same contract/yearly wage.
20 players, and lets say... 1 extra d-man and 1 extra forward.
3.409,090.91 cap hit per player. I think that's pretty fair.
It's actually kind of scary how the average comes out to what we pay all of our 4th liners
EDIT: How many contracts are actually on the NHL cap hit? I know we can have what...50 contracts total for the NHL/AHL I believe. |

Which is why I said every story has 3 sides.
Again we can't assume what Garth offered or Sakic declined, whether it's logical to you or not because the fact is we don't know. |

Meh, There are coaches in the NHL that aren't puppets and they don't give a shat about anything other than fielding the best team to win, because if they don't they lose their job. Just my opinion, we will agree to disagree on this one. |

Really good article on Ho Sang - eichiefs9
He keeps saying the right things. Given that he hasn't done anything stupid in a while and his performance at the end of last year I'm inclined to believe him. I think he has matured. Hopefully he'll get regular ice time because he is fun to watch. |

He's a unique kid and a bit of an oddball, but I think that got misinterpreted as him being some sort of troublemaker. Regardless, the kid's got his head on straight now and only figures to improve. |

He looked pretty good in a short time we got to see him. He sees the ice really well. He was catching his linemates off guard with some of the passes he was making. I don't think they ever saw the openings that he passed through.
Now that Crappy is gone hopefully the Isles can properly develop some young talent. |
