I don't think Hayden is a C. Dauphin though.

Wonder if Gagner would like to play with his old linemate again? That might be an attractive incentive.

- ArlingtonRob

I don't but the Kane/Gagner argument for two reasons: 1. that was in junior, and 2. Kane seems to have decent chemistry with almost everyone.

For a cap friendly deal Gagner might be an option, but I wouldn't break the bank for him.

the more I'm thinking about it, i'm pretty optimistic/intrigued to see Dauphin's game. Sounds like he could very well be a Kruger replacement with more offensive talent.
- arps714

I dunno if he has Kruger's game.
This is a kid from midget on was relied upon to score, generate O, and not conentrate on being a defensive specialist.

According to Elliotte Friedman

7. Sam Gagner makes a lot of sense as a right-handed power play option to replace Artemi Panarin in Chicago. He was dynamite with Columbus in that role. It is believed Vancouver also has interest in his services.

Oh no...I wouldn't either.

Besides, short of launching a big contract or 2 the bank reserves are rather low at the moment.

Strange. All signs were #Blackhawks were going to qualify him. Something changed in the last day or two. Perhaps a pending FA pickup?

Would we take Jagr on a one year deal? If he took 1-2M?
I know we're trying to get faster and younger but he wouldn't look terrible for depth scoring or line blending next to Saad/Toews in a pinch

- Slofire94

I was thinking that too. How would this be for a PR day -

Announce Hossa LTIR, then sign Jagr.

With Toews, Anisimov, Schmaltz (his preferred position), Kero, Dauphin, Hinostroza, all options at Center and reports the Rasmussen turned down a contract offer from the Hawks, it's no wonder they did not qualify him.

Dauphin has a great opportunity to win the 4th line Center job.

Plus who knows what Stan has in mind for 7/1. If he's going to sign a few guys, there have to be a place to slot them in.

21. Joel Quenneville was at the draft Saturday after not appearing on Friday. He stormed out of a coach’s meeting — in full view of reporters — as news broke of the Chicago trades. It would have been very tough for him to lose Hjalmarsson, one of the NHL’s underappreciated great players. I’ll be the first to admit I haven’t watched a ton of Connor Murphy. Quenneville saw two defenders go out (Hjalmarsson and Trevor van Riemsdyk) and one come in on a blue line that already was thin. It’s why the Blackhawks are linked to Alzner.

I like Gagner if he is on the third line and fills in top 6 when there is an injury. If he is relied on to be top 6 all year I would be more concerned. To me this should be the goal if Gagner is included

Saad-Toews-Panik
Galchenyuk/Palat/Someone of this level-Schmaltz(or kick him to the left if you get another guy-Kane

Pass. He's beat up and not as good as hammer, plus will cost too much.

I think Gagner is a guy you love on your third line, and eh above that. Vermette Sharp and Teuvo was our third line 2015. All good players but if they are on your second line you are not thrilled with your depth. If they are on the third you are sitting pretty.

I expect someone to overpay for Alzner, and the Hawks can't even if they wanted to.

The #Blackhawks have agreed to terms with defenseman Ville Pokka on a one-year deal, according to a source.

I expect Rozy to be the Hawks 23rd man, spending most of his time in the press box. Rozy is signed for next year at $650k. That accomplished or accomplishes three relatively small things that add up to something more meaningful:
1. Checked a box of exposing the right (minimum) players to Vegas last week.
2. Allows the 23rd man on the roster to cost $650k, versus some Rockford entry level player at $800-925k. Saves $150-200k in cap space.
3. Puts a guy in the press box that isn't an issue sitting. You don't want someone (like a Forsling or Rutta) sitting in the press box filling up that 23rd spot when they should be getting valuable experience skating a regular shift in Rockford.
