Trade AA for D, Kruger for pick, Offer sheet Palat, if that doesnt work Galchenyuk, if that doesnt work Tyler Johnson.
- kevndevries

Sam Gagner makes a lot of sense as a right-handed power play option to replace Artemi Panarin in Chicago. He was dynamite with Columbus in that role. It is believed Vancouver also has interest in his services.

Joel Quenneville was at the draft Saturday after not appearing on Friday. He stormed out of a coach’s meeting — in full view of reporters — as news broke of the Chicago trades. It would have been very tough for him to lose Hjalmarsson, one of the NHL’s underappreciated great players. I’ll be the first to admit I haven’t watched a ton of Connor Murphy. Quenneville saw two defenders go out (Hjalmarsson and Trevor van Riemsdyk) and one come in on a blue line that already was thin. It’s why the Blackhawks are linked to Alzner.

Fair request, for sure. AFAIK, no convictions either through guilty plea or trial. I look at it this way: there was enough to charge him and arrest him (not true with P Kane in 2015). There was more than one woman and a bouncer reporting issues on the night that led to the arrest. There was also another allegation by another woman of a worse nature.

With P Kane, I was following along in excruciating detail until it was resolved as he is one of my favorite Hawks. I said if another woman came forward with similar allegations or another similar story, I would write him off, no matter what the ultimate outcome of the known incident. Similar to Bill Cosby, if there are multiple reports, I tend to believe there is a pattern there.

HOWEVER, I would like nothing more than for E Kane to not be what it looks like he might be. For his sake, his team's sake, and the people he is around. IF the Hawks take a flyer on him, then fine, but I'm not going to be shocked at all if there is another incident.

Like I said to someone yesterday, we can agree to disagree, and I'll hope that all of you are correct that he has no remaining issues.

Won't bring it up again...if the non-directly-related-to-hockey talk has bothered people, my apologies.

I just have to think that Bowman needs a back up plan or way out of any scenario where E Kane does not work out here. There is always ....maybe...the Huet sell dump off route? Bowman does not have extra money to use at a trade deadline and E Kane could lead to McDonough questioning this gamble. Can we just hope a newbie but not as physical as Kane sometimes can be - namely, DeBrincat, is a better option.

It was widely reported that he simply left and got in to a cab. No storming.

I'm sure Q was shocked. Nothing wrong with showing some emotion, in my opinion.

When the dust settles from the trades and Free Agent Frenzy, I still think the Hawks come out on top.

the more I'm thinking about it, i'm pretty optimistic/intrigued to see Dauphin's game. Sounds like he could very well be a Kruger replacement with more offensive talent.

Watching footage of him he isn't afraid to throw the body around or drop the mitts if need be.

DIdnt P Kane and Gagner have a ton of chemistry playing together in juniors? There could be a lot to that note from Friedman.

Would we take Jagr on a one year deal? If he took 1-2M?
I know we're trying to get faster and younger but he wouldn't look terrible for depth scoring or line blending next to Saad/Toews in a pinch

If Gagner is available and willing to sign at a friendly cap hit, I'd take him to play with Kane on the LW and take some draws too. He's not awful at the dot, 47% or so, better than AA and probably Schmaltz.

I think they were linemates back in the day.

Heard his name mentioned yesterday...Hawks could do worse.

Wonder what he's looking for after his successful "show me" year with the Jackets last season?

Yes. Corrected my original post because Gagner is Canadian. Think they played together as juniors.

06-07 London Knights

Wonder if Gagner would like to play with his old linemate again? That might be an attractive incentive.

Think the opportunity to play with Kane again (and for Kane on this side) might be attractive for Gagner.

I agree, I just kinda liked him. It actually sounds like they did him a favor. Let him hear the deal, he declined, so they rescinded.

Sam is from London, Ont and was drafted number #6 the same year Kane was taken #1

Interesting...just noticed Karl Alzner was taken #5 that year.

Gagner is likely the type of player that goes from 1 year contract to 1 year contract unless he can string together a couple 50 point seasons.

Jagr in Chicago is an instant jersey purchase.
