Ek also said we were trading for MAF and, even more amazingly, we still haven't traded for Byfuglien.

Why anyone pays any attention to that guy is truly mind boggling.

Good article on an idea of what the Flyers Lineup may look like come October:

Worst goaltending duo in the NHL isn't really conducive to winning.

Mason likely wants to be a distinct #1 because he needs that to find his game. Stats could prove me wrong, but always seemed like he played his best without the 1A/1B situation, and you cant knock a guy for wanting to set himself up to be able to perform at his highest level. To me, his flaw was with his confidence, which could be related to the 1A/1B rotation. Really felt like his time in philly has come to an end. I would take him back, but any goaltending situation I would prefer to not come with a high $$ tag

"Coming into the season, with Neuvy getting the nod as the No. 1 guy, then fine, you just need to have ... for both of our sakes, you need to have defined roles," Mason said.

In training camp, Hextall said that having Mason and Neuvirth was like having two No. 1 goalies and it was a position of "strength" on the team. Mason said the mini-competition this season -- both were vying for contract renewals -- was flawed.

"Doesn't work," Mason said. "And it's shown throughout the league, it doesn't work. Tampa got rid of their situation. St. Louis got rid of their situation. It's got nothing to do with Neuvy and I as people. I've got no issues with Neuvy. It doesn't work for the goaltending position."

Others would suggest it's a mental thing. Mason showed during his four seasons here that he's a better goalie when he's not looking over his shoulder and knows it's his net.

"It's not mentality, it's the way the position is played," Mason said. "You can't be in and out, in and out. You have to have the flow. I believe, given that flow, I've done well with it.

"Every single team needs a defined starter and backup goalie. Just having that clarity would have simplified it a lot. At the end of the season, having that clarity, the results showed."

Yeah, pretty much. But, in comparison to the other FA goalies available, I still he think he is the best at just playing the position.

When you read that and then think how Pittsburgh has done it with 2 goalies, one being a former top pick, it does come off a little whiny.

Mase is a serious head case. Then again most goalies are. I don't care how much padding you allow me to wear I don't think I could stand there and let NHL slap shots hit me.

seriously...tell me how Pittsburgh has done it?

Murray hasnt been the starter since he took over from Fleury due to injury? It wasn't completely clear that Murray is the #1 if he is healthy?

Exactly. Fleury lost the crease the minute he got injured a couple seasons ago.
