Na I don't think there's any injury. He's pissed off because he poured his heart and soul out for this organization and he's had to deal with his name out there for a few years because he's one of the best trade chips we have. He has always been a fan of this team and now he's unwanted. He's sick of it, I get it.

Avs don't extend offer to Wiercioch. Good move. If we could trade Barrie for another young defenseman that actually plays D that would be awesome.

Barrie for JVR + a pick/prospect and Duchene for one of Hanifin/Slavin/Pesce would be great!

Once the draft was over I was reviewing the depth of other NHL teams. One team that struck me as deep in prospects and at the NHL level is the St Louis Blues. It appears if Sakic changed his demands to a more prospect focused package for Duchene, Colorado could import some good talent and fill multiple holes in the organization.
Colorado would need to take back salary in any deal with the Blues. A player like Carl Gunnerson who makes $2.9 million for two years would be a good place to start. Then the Avs could look at the long list of prospects and ELC's that St Louis could potentially offer such as:

Vince Dunn LD
Jake Walman LD
Ville Husso G
Zach Sanford LW
Tage Thompson RW
Robert Thomas C
Klim Kostin LW
Ivan Barbashev C
Jordan Schmaultz RD
Robbi Fabbri C

While this list lacks the defensive stalwart that Sakic is looking for it certainly provide the opportunity to plug other holes in the organization. A package of Fabbri, Dunn (Second Pairing D), Kyrou and Kostin would fill a lot of needs for Colorado.
