At least we didn't (frank) up a 1st overall pick

I'd rather have Zibinajed than Nugent-Hopkins

Oilers probably turned down 5 quality assets for him at one point

It is crazy what they probably "could" have got

I wonder how many who are asking for a full rebuild and sucking for awhile were alive from 97-2004?
- mdw7413

I dont think we need to try and suck, but at the same time, i think they need to make changes. I like the changes so far. Main problem we have had for a few years now is that they continue to sign players to bad contracts. I am ok to sign UFAs but do not want them to sign any player that we will want traded in 2 years because his contract is crap. I would rather pass.

I missed on that one. After seeing that guy live a lot in juniors, and after his rookie year, I thought he was going to be a stud.
- Pete V

I was there too Pete. I had no issue taking a chance on him a couple years ago.

I don't think TPC will ever live down your Kreider for Yak thing though.

we aren't going to suck if we have Mats Zuccarello, Ryan McDonagh, Chris Kreider, JT Miller, Ryan McDonagh, Brady Skjei, Jimmy Vesey, Kevin Hayes, Pavel Buchnevich...

people signing the death knell to this team are out of their minds

Hank left out of that list. he is the main reason we will not suck. as long as he is on this team I cannot see management doing a rebuild.

But every team has them, nature of the business. It would be kind of a pipe dream to have a team full of contracts and players we all loved.

I get what you are saying, but for some reason(if we are talking about signing Shattenkirk) it seams Shattenkirk is either a horrible signing or a great signing. Doesn't seem to be much of a middle ground that while it might be a risk a little later down the road, he makes the team much better for the next few years.

would you sign Shatty to the deal that the Capitals gave Oshie? not 8 years, would have to be 7

Whats the cap? 5.7 or something.

I think I would. He would be 35 at the end of the contract. Not too old. He doesn't play a heavy game so he will probably last longer than say someone like Girardi.

I think they gotta if they had that opportunity, somehow keep it under 6 mil a year, 7 years

Yeah I think I would. Unless they can trade for something better(don't see it happening) why not.

I would absolutely take a chance on him. Had a good rookie year and then something happened.

What he said. Boyle does bring excellent PK and faceoff ability but I would like to find that elsewhere.

Justin Williams perhaps? Though he is a little older than I would like. I just want to try someone new. I certainly won't be booing Boyle if he comes back but let's cross that unfortunate bridge when the time comes.

- JRR1285

Williams would've been perfect a couple of yrs ago was really hoping they would've signed him before he went to Caps. Guys a proven winner clutch player in playoffs and wouldve a been a good leader on team. If this was close to cup I'd say sign home to 1yr deal if he would accept it but with all the uncertainty with this team it's not likely.

I don't know, u think AV would be the ideal coach for him to find what ever is missing?

I think he is in that 1 year/$1.2 million flyer type category now. You would be hoping that he turns into a Pouliot type acquisition that finds his game in New York.

I have been a regular on Ranger blogs since since 1997. When Messier left I needed to find somewhere to vent.

I have never hated anyone as much as I hate you.

Congratulations

- jimbo83

Why because I don't believe that Lias Andersson will show himself worthy of being a top 7 pick. Or is it because I don't agree with 100% of the time? I don't hate. You having an opinion as well as others having an opinion is what makes healthy discussions.

i dont see how he comes in under 6.5 wherever he signs

its more about the term than the money for me. 7 years

I like shatty, but honestly, good value for him is under $5.5M. anything over is over payment. and i definitely would not go more than say 4-5 years. he will be good for the next 2-3 years.

I would agree with that. if you had to sign him to $7.5M for 2 years i would do that. the term is the killer.

guaranteed they'd have to give him 7 years and yeah probably a NMC, but to me that has to be traded off to keep the cap hit lower

if he wants all that and a large cap hit like Yandle got, well, he's gonna go somewhere else
