Depends what the game plan is and if you believe Grabner can be a 15-25 goal scorer again.
- nyrangers9479

Ya man Grabner potting 15-25 goals really makes up for trading 2 out of our top 3 scoring forwards

Ya, in their spot were just not going to play anyone. Just roll 2 forwards and 2 D on their shift. Buch would replace Miller in the top 9. Well sign another center.

Kreider Zib Buchnevich
Nash Hayes Vesey
Zucc Bonino Grabner

Terrible if we're able to add a top RHD?

Yea that's awful. We still need a 4th line and we'll likely have points in the season 2-3 forwards are injured and out of the lineup at any given time.

Were going to sign a couple guys, maybe take a chance on Yakupov, Grigerenko, maybe Anderson makes the team. Ton of variables. I like Miller a lot, big fan of his. But if the don't feel like Day or whoever is ready we need to figure something out.

Read somewhere Kings might looking to move Alec Martinez 29 yrs old. Wonder what they want back in return 9G 30A was a -17 though last year and it would take some time to get used to him after that OT goil in 14 final.

I just don't see the Rangers spending to the cap max. I think they want to get younger and keep the cap flexibility in case a trade option opens up down the road

Then they should definitely trade Nash and Hank no point in having them here I understand not spending caps pace on stupid contracts that won't get them any closers to cup. But if they are gonna plug holes with rookies and lower tier FA then you should just do a full rebiuld.

But I mean in this free agent class, the lower tier free agents/rangers rookies might be just as valuable as the top free agents.

This UFA market is awful IMO

Only way Rangers are going to really improve is through the trade market. Which doesn't have to happen on July 1. Gorton has all summer to look around for moves

I honestly think Gorton wants no part of long term deals on any FA. He's building from within which is smart.

Agreed. It's not black and white like we either "spend no cap money and rebuild" or "spend to the cap max". Spend the cash on players that will improve our team. If we end up with 5mm in cap space after the free agents all sign, then keep it open rather than signing 3 Tanner Glasses for 1.5mm each just for the sake of it

I am actually surprised Glass didn't make the top 50 UFA list. In this market, he def is one of the top 50

He definitely had a good playoff. Might've boosted his value.

Finding a way to get rid of Staal should be a top priority, just harrass him until he says ok to waive the NMC

Crazy to think but Staal and Hank are really the only 2 handcuffing contracts left. Nash is up after this season. Never thought I would see the day with so few huge contracts

I wonder what Colorado would want from us for Duchene. Gotta think defense. Maybe Skjei + Fast + a pick?

Then the Rangers don't have a 3rd or 4th line center and #1 RHD. Unless DeAngelo, Niees and Andersson are the 2nd comings.

For what Colorado is going to want, no thank you. Plus he has the same type A personality as Stepan which I hated.

It's a shame what happened to him after his injuries. He was one of the best at shutting down the Ovechkins, Crosbys, Malkins etc. Now he's pushing being a 3rd pair guy. I strongly believe without his injuries he would still be a top 4 dman.

they don't have to declare "full rebuild!!!" before the season starts

trades happen during the season too, if they really go south, the trade deadline can be at good time to sell

but, beginning of season, middle, summertime, anytime, they are never ever ever trading Lundqvist, it's never ever ever happening.
