Only if the Rangers are willing to part now with Skjei, as was the case last season. Without Raanta available, the Jets will not deal Trouba directly to the Rangers otherwise, & unless a third team having a goalie to be the Jets #1 starter gets involved in the trade. They pressed Gorton heavily to acquire Raanta to be their #1 starter, multiple times during the days prior to the recent trade/waiver freeze period, leading further to the rumors of Trouba being the Rangers interest.

As I wrote last year and a few times this year, if money was the main driver, he would have taken the $ from Tampa. When you factor in the lack of state tax, team in front of him and Herman etc on blue line along with Vasilevskiy, pretty nice set up. It's why I think, and may be proven to be wrong, that money isn't the big driver. I don't expect a major home town discount, but some form of one could happen if he truly wants NYC.
