Hope summer is springing eternal for NYR folks.... very excited by the maneuvers to date as we wait for the other foot come crashing down...
1st Ruff is contingency 101 for a smooth transition if we dont meet expectations
PROBLEM..players know a crutch when they see one and may bail on A V IF..
i dont think so but Ruff will help teams play with better changes D rotations and
a top keen eye for Doggers or guys cot pushing it ... will help overall team play
too many bench mistakes with changes ,too many men ...etc
Question: why arent we in Duchesne talks or are we????
G M wants top D up & coming player & top pick.... Staal J T & #1 next yr???
If not JT go to top prospects Gropp , Day , D men in Conn?
Not thrilled with Shatty except u dont lose anyone.. if for decent price ....?
want Smith like new kid BUT... top center is needed & Duchesne is sitting there
PS did u say speed ... what can he do to the dynamic of the team ..
serious .. may have to lose Shey ?for a top center
12. On the blue line: the Rangers and Brendan Smith appear headed towards a deal. I never really sensed Calgary and Michael Stone were that close, so he’s likely headed to the market. There seems to be quite a bit of interest in Trevor Daley. It’s believed at least two Canadian teams — Ottawa and Winnipeg — are looking at Dmitry Kulikov as a left-handed option. He played for Guy Boucher in junior, and there’s no way last year is a true indication of his play. Karl Alzner will be an interesting one. One team indicated the price may be between $4-$5 million, and that gives him more options. And a few teams are curious to see if Buffalo makes the biggest pitch for Kevin Shattenkirk.
13. I know we’ve been hammering Shattenkirk to the Rangers, but New York seems very determined to increase the roles and responsibilities of its young players. The draft-day trade with Arizona is excellent evidence of that.

Thanks for posting. Was about to post myself when I saw yours. Been jammed all day. Have a wedding tonight but will get a new blog up either late, late tonight or in the AM.
Whoa horsey! ...and what teams did those guys play for to earn those +/- stats? Stop it. - mames11
Excluding the Panthers for ONE WHOLE SEASON, Yandle did play for the Rangers from the trade deadline of the 2014/2015 season through the 2015/16 season, as well as for the following 3 top Coyotes teams that made the postseason in that franchise's history dating back to their days in Winnipeg.
2009/10: 107 pts, 2nd Pacific Div (Lost 4 gms to 3 to DET. W. Conf. Qtr. Finals)
2010/11: 99 pts, 3rd Pacific Div (Lost 4 gms to 0 to DET. W. Conf. Qtr. Finals)
2011/12: 99 pts, 1st Pacific (Lost 4 games to 3 to Cup Champs, L.A. in Conf. Finals, after defeating Chicago 4 games to 2, & Nashville 4 games to 1).
As for Faulk who came into the NHL in 2011/12 with Carolina, yes he has played for some bad teams there, in contrast to Shatty. But Faulk has also had Cam Ward in his prime as the Canes backstop, who had already been there since the 2005/06 season. In the two's related seasons dating back to that 2011/12 one, Faulk's +/- rating and Ward's G.A.A. were as follows:
2011/12: Faulk (-16), Ward (2.74)
2012/13: (+1), (2.84) (Strike Shortened Season)
2013/14: (-9), (3.06)
2014/15: (-19), (2.40)
2015/16: (-22), (2.41)
2016/17: (-18), (2.69)
Faulk's +/- rating actually worsened in the past 3 seasons, while Ward's G.A.A. in contrast had greatly improved overall, despite him being 8 years older than Faulk.
So don't make it like Yandle and Faulk do not have their own issues defensively as Shatty has had at times. For you, that applies especially with Yandle, who I'm sure you were mocking while he was a Ranger for his less than average defensive game, for the same reason why you & some don't want to have Shatty signed here. Just wait infinitely in dream land instead, since your type only will be happy with, another Bobby Orr that may never again come the NHL's way, if you and the Shatty haters think that he would still automatically become a Ranger. Your type also wouldn't be happy having Brian Leetch here today.

I have to be honest, if the rangers Dcore looks like the following next season i am not upset. AV will lean on McD and Smith heavy and be forced to use Skjei more than he normally would - which is good. Skjei is our #2 dman.
McD - Smith
Skjei - ADA
Staal - Holden
Day/Graves/AHL call up
From what i understand the rangers have liked ADA for a while now. Gorton specifically mentioned him on the PP during an interview. I expect him to make the team.

haha i would rather Day play than Staal TBH. Wet dreams are made of a dcore with McD, Skjei, and Day. 3 big, fast, all around good dmen in their prime.

Am I the only one that thinks that defense is bottom 10 in the NHL?

If Leetch was 30 and available, I'd pay the 7-years/$6-7M per. Why? Because we know he worked here in NY...and for some bad Ranger squads, to boot.
Have you not heard of Bobby Holik, Brad Richards, Chris Drury, Scott Gomez...to name a few that were signed to monster deals for tons of money. Other than the highway robbery Sather did to Montreal, what happened to each of these other players?
First few years of their deals seemed good, but after...couldn't trade those contracts away. It'll be a rinse and repeat if Shattenkirk is signed to that 7-year deal that is rumored. No thanks.
Now...if he'd do a three year deal at $6.5...then I'd do it. He'll still be in his prime to cash in on another good termed deal at 33.
