I could be way off base and wrong, but I do not think Shatty will be signing with the NY Rangers

Maybe Skjei? I think Skjei and Smith make a great 2nd pair. Maybe Smith could play with McD? Skjei and Deangelo. Holden and Day/Staal?
- nyrangers9479

Whatever happens on D, if the Holden Staal pair still exists I'll need a shrink and I'll be in line amongst most fans haha. One of them MUST be the 7th Dman. Idc who, but if both of them play reg shifts were effed

i think after B Smith they still need another top 4.
McD Skjei Smith and ?
Holden Staal bottom 2.

I think I've seen enough of people "in the know" now saying the Rangers aren't interested in Shattenkirk where I feel comfortable crossing him off the list

I'd put Staal and DA in the bottom two. I think Holden can be top four as long as he is not with Staal.

Miller for a RHD is the most sensible and logical thing to do

Maybe, dare I say, for Coyle and Dumba? Lol. Seriously. Not even kidding. Trouba seems like it would cost more then just Miller

It does seem that way, doesn't it?

Maybe the D'Angelo acquisition signals something on Shattenkirk as well, namely that they expect that kid to fill the PP role.

Then you would take away that 3rd center option by trading Miller. It's just an option for center, but Rangers are getting thin up front. No Stepan, Lindberg, and no Fast until November or so. I know they never played on the same line, but that is a quarter of your forwards there. I don't feel like Gorton should trade away any forwards right now until the lineup takes some shape after a free agent singing...or two.

Maybe they go the cheaper, less desirable route to fill a righthanded shot on D -- someone like Kulikov. Not saying I love that, but maybe.

Wow all this trade Miller trade McDonagh talk if that's the case trade Nash and Hank too Frank rebuild on fly just totally rebuild it. No point in keeping them around if come free agency we are gonna sign bottom barging FA . crazy how much hate Shatty has on this thread guessing it's his age cause if he was 24 I doubt people would be so against it.

I am against signing deals that end up being contracts you can't trade if things do not work out.

I like the picks but I would not be upset if one was turned into say... Trouba? All depends on what(who) else might be packaged with those picks.
- JRR1285

After trading Raanta to AZ., the word in Winnipeg this past weekend was that any trade of Trouba to the Rangers would involve as was the asking price last season, Skjei as part of the return, unless a third team became involved who has a similar capable backup if not a starter, to head to Winnipeg.
That's why it is down to Shatty only being available to suit their second urgent need in a RH offensive d'man, after their first must is to re-sign Smith, & third, to acquire more help at center, along with some grit at wing. The Rangers power play was only a horrendous 7.7% during this past 2 round postseason.
For those Shatty haters, despite if he were even to sign for just a maximum of $6M for only a 5 year term instead, in the combined 5 past NHL postseasons, only one d'man has more power play points with 118 than Shatty's 113. That player is named Erik Karlsson.

Sounds like ADA is the same player as Shattenkirk, just younger and still needing to blossom.

But McD - Smith/Skjei - ADA/Holden - Staal seems like such a putrid core. There's just too many question marks...

If Miller is the 3rd center then great, just not sure he's best served there. MIller is a great player, I don't like his head tho and I feel like he is the best return and kind of excess. I don't view the forwards as thin right now, you had Buch sittting many nights now he has a full time top 9 spot in that scenerio. The 4th line took a hit no doubt and I guess If Miller was still here Grabner would go to 4th line duties. Which wouldn't be terrible. One thing is a must tho, you have to ride or die with Buch in the top 9

If they think Shat is somewhat of a one dimensional player, than this kid really takes that mo. I think he's too risky of an option right now. I could only see that as an option if they were capped out, and they aren't.
- puckhead17

Shatty is a +17 in the regular season for his career, as opposed to Yandle's -39, and Faulk's -83 for his wishers to come here, while having to give up a top forward or two instead of signing Shatty as a free agent.

I am all for that.

I'd even give Puempel a shot, as well. Nine points (6g, 3A) in 27 games with limited ice is not that bad for a 4th liner.

Yeah, I just don't see how the Rangers are out of the Shattenkirk sweeps unless his terms are insane.

I am quite excited for the weekend.
