I think both of those are fine but wouldnt bring much at TDL. As long as its 1 year deals JB is handing out, I am ok with anyone they decide to bring in
- WhiteLie

Anybody who is going to bring back a decent return at the TDL will most likely cost more.

Thinking Ron Hainsey, not shooting for the fences but picking up another 2nd round or 3rd rounder.

Del Zotto, Franson, Kulikov, Quincey really any D on a short term contract.
Quick flips, on forwards too.

I am not sure Dahlen's contractual situation over there, but looks confirmed that Pettersson isnt going to be back at Timra next season:

https://www.vaxjolakers.s...-om-att-ha-blivit-draftad

Also for what its worth, Vaxjo plays their first preseason game August 10th. Likely the reason he won't be at the Penticton tournament

I will have to touch up on my Swedish

As long as they are 1 year deals, I am not worried about the costs. VAN can still retain salary on 1 more contract so if they need to do so to make it work, they have the slot available and it'll be opened up again for next season

Alzner should be a no-go. The price tag is too high, and he'll be looking for long term, I just don't see a fit.
I'd much rather go with Oduya or Hainsey, on one year deals, then flip them at the deadline.

- Vanoxy

I can't wait to sign Tavares next year to a one year deal so that we can flip him for draft picks at the deadline.....

This year we should throw 10m at Shattinkirk for 1 year, eat half at the deadline and get a sweet hall for him......

That works in nhl 17, why not real life?

google translate did it for me

It was just was an interview/puff piece with Pettersson on the draft experience. I linked it only to confirm his connection with the team. There would be no need to post a piece like that on the team's front page if he wasnt going to be in your lineup next season

Stoked to see if Pettersen and Dahlen move up to the top tier mens league in Sweden and make some noise as linemates.
- Itsjustarash

The Petterson pick makes a lot of sense. He was in the top 10 of many mocks. Very highly skilled and has some chemistry with Dahlen, another high end prospect.

Benning has done a good job of assembling a nice mix of size, speed and skill up front. Goal-tending looks solid with Demko and Dipietro.

Canucks are probably looking at another top 5 pick next year. Draft the best D man available and things will really start looking interesting.

PS darkhorse to watch will be Petrus Palmu

During midsummer took the big NHL draften place in Chicago. In the first round that number five was drafted Vaxjo Lakers forward Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks.

First and foremost BIG congratulations Elias! How does it feel to have been drafted?
- Thanks, it feels great!

You were on location in Chicago during draften. Was it like you had imagined?
- It was great fun and nervously. It was much bigger than I thought, I did not think there would be so many people but it was just fun. All media it even more fun.

Had you expected to go so early in the draft?
- No, it went better than I thought because there were so many good players so I had no idea when they would choose me. I'm really sick happy and satisfied to end up the top five.

Did you know you that Vancouver would drafta you?
- They showed a great interest in me during CombiNet as I was, so I had my notions, but there was absolutely nothing I dared hope for. It feels good to be a "Canuck".

Why do you think Vancouver chose you?
- I'm a playmaker who creates scoring opportunities for both myself and my teammates. An offensive player who matched what Vancouver wanted.

Your mom and dad were there with you and Emil followed draften on TV, what does their support for you?
- It means a lot to me! My family has always been there for me and supported me in everything I've done, so I think they are happy and proud now.

Your former squire in Timra, Jonathan Dahlén was last year drafted by Ottawa but then trejdad to Vancouver. How fun it had been to play with him again?
- It had obviously been great fun! It feels great to have been drafted by the same team.

Has this made you even more psyched for the season to come?
- Yes absolutely! I've never been this psyched and motivated before, ending a happy Elias.

I don't see where it says he's coming over in a year....

The assumption is because he is only signed for 1 year in the SHL. Once this year is done, he will most likely be coming over to North America.

Players that dream of the NHL don't want to develop in SEL for several years. He will likely come over at the end of his SEL season to play a game or two here, then play for a spot on opening roster in 2018-2019. Impossible to say if he will be Utica or Canuck bound that season.

An entire year away and these seem to be the top 10 names. I'm honestly okay with a top 10 pick next season.

The makings of the 2015 draft where you can get a Werenski at 8 or Rantanen at 10. OR a Boeser at 23

It wasnt really an assumption of what hes doing beyond this upcoming season, but to reiterate that he isnt coming to North America until the next SHL season has concluded at the earliest. Being that high of a pick, I am not worried he will be coming sooner rather than later

I also posted it in relation to Dahlen, who I am not sure if he will follow to Vaxjo if he returns to Sweden this year

Hopefully he fills out a bit and comes around next season at 180ish.

Joe Thornton looking for a longer term contract. Maybe an Eric Staal type deal. 3 years 4 Million. He would be a better mentor for Pettersson then Henrik.

I have never got a 1st round pick for Canucks right in the 30 + years of following draft (other than Sedin's, that one was obvious what Burke was doing.
Don't know why I thought I would guess right this time.

per Ryan Biech - Pettersson is currently in Vancouver now, but Dahlen is in Sweden. Both SHOULD be expected to participate in Development camp.

He could basically top out as a backup in the ECHL and we'd have better luck than you guys had with yours.

At least you got a good return on the Jokkinen/Luongo trade... Oh, wait. Nevermind.

Yup. I am destined for a terrible lifetime guessing success rate. One of the reason I don't gamble.
