Guent can play all 3... Kuhn plays either as a 4th liner... and pretty sure Rust has flipped sides as well during games.
- Guile

I think Guentz is strictly a winger here now. He won't play center unless we are demolished by injuries at center
Edit: Yea I think Rust can play either side as well

We def need to focus on centers and D.

This, the Pens have enough wingers.

Good thing that talking point was about having too many "RWs"

No thanks. He doesn't have the offense for top 6 and doesn't have the defense for bottom 6. I have no doubt he can score 20+ goals on Crosby's wing, but so what, a lot of players can. Throw in the fact that he seems injury-prone and it's a hard no.

So much focus on big-name players and former high draft picks. The best moves are often the sneaky, under-the-radar moves that no one sees coming and they turn out great. I know the Pens struck gold with Kessel and Schultz, but I think there are some hidden gems out there.

The Old Man knows his way around the bargain bin. That's why I'm not keen on overpaying Bonino. Maybe I trust Rutherford too much but I bet he can find a great value 3C on the trade market if he can't come to reasonable deal with a UFA.

Haha - that's a good way of putting it. I can see him elbowing some babushkas down at the discount store when a new shipment comes in.

I agree about Bonino, but I just hope if we get a new 3C that he does some of the things that Bonino does well, namely play PK, defend, and block shots. And hey, if he is good at faceoffs, even better.

I'm frankly less concerned about scoring and facilitating. They would be great attributes to have, but preventing the other team from scoring at that position is worth more, IMO (at least to the Pens roster as it is currently constructed).

They pay Schultz 4-5 mil per year, but does he stay on the 3rd pairing with Cole? He has to be in the top 4 so who do you pair him with? I really wish maatta could be sent out for a little more stable dman.

I think a 1 year deal for Niemi would be good - not for him though. Let Jarry play another year in the A & have an experienced back up for Muzza.

I wonder what team will give Yukpoosnot a lifeline? I can see the Hawks doing it more through desperation than anything else with their cap & wing struggles.

The reason I want Bones back, is because he seems like such a perfect fit for this team...honestly...plus, he has been really good in the playoffs. I would love if him and Cully were both back...would make things a lot easier.

How many 2nd rounders in 2019 or 2020 do they have? So that means, if these picks even become serviceable players, they won't get a return until 5-6 years from now lol

6 including their own. They are probably on a 5-6 timeline, anyway, before they get decent / playoff-bound.

Just spit balling: Maatta, Jarry, Pouliot for Trouba (maybe plus a little more).... they seem to always be looking for a goaltender

Haha if they accept that, you make that deal and never look back.

Not bad. I think they can get more for Trouba but I could be wrong. I would do it in a second if I'm the Pens which tells me it probably isn't enough. But it's not ridiculous like a lot of trade proposals I see, IMO. I'm not sure what the league perception of Jarry is but he really hasn't even been a backup yet so I don't think his value could be that high right now. We know about Maatta and Pouliot. Also, Maatta is LD and Trouba is RD. That could be a problem for the Jets.

Jets are thin at LD. Their original asking price for Trouba was a comparable LD. That's the only part of that deal that makes sense.

Yeah, I think Trouba is going to be a 1D stud soon if he isn't already. Plus, he's only 23 and about to become a RFA. I think they are crazy to trade him, but if they do (or if he wants out), I think it is going to take something like Maatta + Jarry + Sprong kind of a deal.

You're right - I just noticed that most of their core is RD. Good for them, though, as LDs are easy to find. Bad for a team wanting Trouba.
