For that reason, I will cap the money portion of this contract to meet his demands at 7M per season. Cap be damned, he is a dangerous player offensively, one that rarely gets in trouble defensively, give him what he wants. Unfortunately for him, this is only good for a 2-year contract. After this 2-year period, every additional season takes a million annually and sends it packing. This would mean that a 3-year contract would be at 18M, 4 years at 20M, and so on.

Going with strategy means you could sign him for 9 years, $0M annually. Seems legit.

Would you still be happy paying him 6M + when he's producing at a rate of 35/45 points a season?
- WaterBoy

If it's his last year and he's still a Tasmanian Devil on the ice? I don't think it would be that big a deal. Would would he have gotten elsewhere at 34? 4 mill? 4.5? Not that big a deal, imo.

Welcoming Brandon Smillie….

As a result of our writing contest, we welcome Brandon Smillie as an interim Habs writer. We are still looking for one more prior to the start of the NHL season, but for now we wanted to bring on Brandon, so that all you Habs fans out there would have a daily writer.

We have some more submissions to go through and I will be posting more guest Canadiens writers as well, but there is so much news in Montreal right now there can almost never be enough…

I'd rather let another team overpay for him.

Captain Flatline has been the same player the last 6 seasons with or without Radulov.
So I don't buy the argument that Radulov is needed for Mr Empty netter any more that I buy the he needed DD to perform.
