Ok Oiler troll we get it, you're upset CGY made a smart move and got a player that yet again your GM didn't. And as far as Russell goes. Your not fooling anyone here, if you forgot, we had him on our team as well. And the great shot blocker arguement got ripped by you guys then. SUck it |

trade Bennett to the Predators so they can flip him to the Avs.

Off topic, but I’m wondering what Flames fans would think of signing Tyler Pitlick as a UFA? Sounds like he is not going back to stink town. 6’2″ 200+ lbs right shot. He scored 8G and 3A in 31GP last year which translates to roughly 20G and 30pts. I don’t like to watch a lot of EDM games when I don’t have to so I can’t say much for how he looked last year. Could he be another Glencross and possible fill in with Johnny and Mony on the RW? A 1year prove it contract? I'm sure some Oiler trol...er, fans will chime in. - TandA4Flames
Why does everyone want to replace ferland on the top line with projects |

Exactly, Oiler trolls are angry. The best part is the cap hit allows Tre to go shopping and hopefully add a scoring winger and a decent goalie and maybe another Dman. Should be a fun year. |

I love the trade for the Flames. I fear Hamonic may be a little overrated though. Has anyone ever really watch his play closely? By all accounts he didn't have a great year last year |

I don't want to replace Ferland on the top line per se, but if we can improve in a position and move a guy down a spot that he can perform in, then that adds to our depth. Plus, ticking it to the Oil again is always a good time.
Plus, there isn't much in FA and I would rather try a you guy that has shown potential than sign an older guy that wants big term and money. |

Nope but neither did most of his teammates. He'll have a highend partner in Brodie (if that stays true) so that will help. He's in the West as he's requested for a while now, I suspect (if he stays healthy) he'll add to our backend quite nicely. |

don't forget you traded Eberle and Hall to "save cap space" only to turn around and give 11 million dollars to quasimodo... err i mean lucic, and russell.
Also, how's Griffin Reinhart? - I miss Kipper

He's signed to a phenomenal contract. It won't take much for him to earn his keep... we paid Smid almost as much for 2 years not to even play... we paid wideman 1.5 million more... he's less than a million more than engelland (and I was happy with his play). I have no doubt he will fit in and provide value. |

Plus he's exactly where he wants to be now...Western Canada. If he good on our team, they should be able to keep him around for a long time.at a reasonable price. |

This trade has the stink of Brian Burke all over it. He gives away draft picks because its like paying for something with a credit card. The chance of Calgary missing the playoffs this year are really very good. Elliott was a better goalie than Smith before he came to Calgary and the defence wrecked him. Hamonic peaked in 2014-15 season because a -21 in 49 games and he's a "defensive defence man". 58 hits in 49 games is called "physical"? 14 points in 49 games and he has an "offensive upside"….He's a one season wonder and the Islanders are laughing all the way to a good lottery pick. - Woowy

Stats are a tool, just like you.
Both of those teams went through major culture shifts, and you expect that to translate to wining immediately? FLA let Gallant go because he wasn't bought into the analytics, which is fine, but that was mid season and new systems came into play. Flames struggled under Coach G's system for the first half of the season, which partly olayed into Elliotts struggles. The guy also just couldn't stop a beachball some nights. |

Florida was riddled with injury, and Phoenix had tippet running the show. |

Up in Edmonton:
Love both the Oilers fans salt and the fact that they are now defending Russell to be a great defenseman when two years ago they were crapping all over the Flames for having him. Good stuff Edmonton.
This is a great deal for us, and the fact that we have a superior defenseman than Russell AND we're paying him less is just the icing on the cake. |

You gotta wonder what Smith's reaction was when he heard about the Hamonic trade.
His intensity level is going to be through the roof I bet.
Smith wasn't my first choice but I like him way more than Elliott that's for sure.

I know the rumours are out there that Radulov wants 7 million but want and gets always turn out to be very different.
Any interest if BT offered 5x5?
Not much RW's coming up in our pipeline! I think with the edition of him, we would be immediate contenders! |
