Yes, I'm no Methot fan but this is just plain stupid. Maybe the package would have been too big because we also would have wanted to keep Claesson (so have to protect multiple assets)?

Dallas still need some serious upgrades offensively (and also Hamhuis sucks). Do they have any chance on signing Radulov (then also Nich may be interested in returning?). Williams or Vrbata would also be a good add to improve the third line.

Who needs a starter (or at least a back up with a starters salary)?

They went cheaper and still got Heiskenberg after they got lucky in the lotto. sounds like a win win for Dallas.

Losing Sharp and Hemsky contract gives enough money to sign Radulov and resign Faksa. They also wrote Eakins' 4M off.

Heiskanen will have more years of being a top 4 D than Tanev. Sounds a bit bitter tbh

I'm not going to act like Methot is some stud defensemen, I think he was the perfect fit on a team like Ottawa, but that package is basically nothing for someone who Ottawa was trying to ship out others to protect.
