could very happen imo. not my 1st choice obviously since he's not very good, but he brings some offense and wouldn't cost players or picks.

Not my first choice but I am not a big fan of trading Galchenyuk for a D man and Del zotto could be a very affordable UFA signing to add some offensive. I have not seen him play recently but remember when he first went to Philly he was putting up some points.

I think Markov will resign but we need 2nd and 3rd pair to create some offence. Hoping this Jerabek is decent and Schlemko can contribute a few points from left side too.

Interesting to see how the team shapes up before opening day.

offensively he's good. defensively he's bad. like very bad.

in other news, seems like JT Miller could be available. worth a call imo.

Yeah, saw that too about Miller, quite surprising considering they traded Stepan away last week.

On the back hand, and for a 3 years term, i would certainly consider Girardi, he could fit well with Petry. Doesn't solve the problem as to who will play with Weber, but you get a very experienced and defensively responsible 2nd pairing D.

Markov will play with Weber.

Read on the interwebz that Habs Markov wants 2 years 7M.

I think that would be more than a fair deal.

As I've mentionned to others before.

There is a reason that New-york decided to buyout Girardi before Marc Staal despite the latter having only one eye working.

He's not the player he was 5 years ago.... I wouldn't touch Girardi unless he'd be ridiculously cheap.

7M total for both years? Sounds more than reasonable.

I feel like if this was the case, it'd be done already though.

That would be a good contract. I figured he would take 4-4.5 per year. If he takes 3.5-4 thats great. Still need to find a way to limit his minutes during the grind of the year though.

I'm a goalie and I only have one eye left, your brain gets used to with time.

They bought Girardi because he is 33 and they want to enter the Shattenkirk bidding war. I watched every 6 games of the Habs-Rags series and he was still a very capable and effective dman. Again, for no more than 3 years in the 3.5 cap hit range, i would do it. Or you can still overpay for Alzner.

As for Markov, i don't believe that he only asks 7M for 2 years, the deal would be done if so...
