Sure, but the point is that signing Alzner literally makes zero sense. None.

Only way id be fine with Alzner is if Edler was traded. Other then that

Yeah, my bad. Edited.

Oh I agree with your point for the most part...he would be a nice add for the right term....but he will get a 6 year contract and we shouldn't be offering one

He's not the quarterback we need. He won't even get us 25 points. Thats not what we need. Gudbranson is already here and a lot younger.

Edit; I also think Gudbransen is going to be very good for us next season and in the room.

You'd sign him for 6 years at 30M?

He turns 29 in September, doesn't provide a lot of offense.

Plus this:

Hockey players make huge sacrifices to play the game that they love.
Tuesday morning, in an interview with 106.7 The Fan’s Sport Junkies, Caps defenseman Karl Alzner shared some insight into his life that is both humorous and sad. After a 14-year hockey career, the 28-year-old defenseman is unable to open jars.

Alzner revealed his plight during a discussion with John Auville about blocking shots.
“The ones that get you inside the knee usually don’t feel good because you can’t really do a whole lot,” Alzner said. “They just send that shooting pain down your leg and you start hobbling around a little bit. Those ones suck.”
“Sometimes where you get hit right in the hand, we have gloves on, but they only protect you a little bit,” Alzner continued. “You get them right in the hand, it’s pretty easy to break something. It’s kind of embarrassing, but my wife (Mandy) is the one who opens up all the jars in our house because my hands have been broken so many times from the shots. I’ve got pretty weak hands now.”
Alzner concluded that getting hit inside or outside the knee can cause a “dead leg feeling” which, in his words, “suck.” Meanwhile, a puck striking the hand can cause “long term” damage.
Alzner has blocked a total of 1,100 shots during his 574-game NHL career.

This guy isn't going to hold up very well over a 5 or 6 year contract that runs until he's 35.

Exactly. Hard NO to Alzner. Unless he gets ignored and is forced to sign a 1 year cheap "show me" deal and can be flipped at the TDL. But that scenario won't happen.
So no.

Unlike you guys, I don't think a rebuild should take 5-6 years before the team is trending up again. Getting stuck with guys like Alzner/Eriksson for 5-6 years at 5M+ per is a terrible idea. They're nice complementary pieces on a contending pieces, not core players on a rebuilding team.

- Nucker101

5/6 yrs is failure IMO
2-3 is more probable

Alzner at the right price for 3yrs is my best offer.
As it is his age does not suit our timeline

I think they gave up more than I wanted to ...but they didn't give up any roster players or prospects so I like that. He's an upgrade over stone and we basically swapped engellands salary for travis'

But i stated more than a few times I didn't want Tanev due to the price to get him so I can't act like this is what I wanted ....time will tell ...our top 4 is very good now so that's good

During our rebuild i am not on board with signing UFA's.
I'd rather lump it & go thru the growing pains.
At most a vet or 2 might make sense but its time for TG to get us on track.
Less injuries would be our greatest need & let the vets lead.
Past 2 seasons have made it difficult on the whole organization.

I like him but I don't like the price. I think he is a bit overrated but still a solid dman. Just prey you guys make the playoffs because you don't want to lose a lottery pick in next years draft.

Yeah that would be disastrous

I'm not that worried about missing the playoffs right now ...but if all of the sudden you lose a couple key players for the year things could get dicey

KInda makes me wonder If he has something else up his sleeve

Don't be so certain that Kings won't have a QUICK turnaround to take back the playoff spot they gave the Flames. Plus Yotes now seem all in on trades and know how to score on inconsistent Smith. Vegas won't be an easy win ....but there is always those Canucks to underestimate too.

LAK r almost yesterdays news as a contender
Yotes need D badly but loaded in prospects
Flames r making a push & Smith is a strange move IMO
Vegas will not be doormats but at C they scare nobody

Oilers & Ducks & SJ r front runners in our division.
The Oil r prime to take another step
Ducks r not going away anytime soon but still not a cup threat IMO
SJ can do as well as another cup run or not.
All in all the boat we r in will be much more fun in 2-3yrs at most in my estimation

The kings with and without quick weren't that different ...he may not be the Same guy who won cups ....or maybe their D core is not as effective

Maybe it's 5 from the pacific ....maybe the hawks losing panarin and hjarm is finally the straw that breaks them ...I like the team we have now more than last year so I'm optimistic

Ducks start the season without lindholm vatanen ...no Theodore ...and an aging bieksa ...I think they will have to pour it on in the second half to make up for lost ground

Sharks have some decisions to make with their free agents ...

Yotes are not making the playoffs ...they are building towards something but aren't a playoff caliber team

Oil should be one of the top 2

Kings aren't making it imo ...they are in limbo with star players there but lack depth that they once had

Vegas Is Vegas

Canucks are rebuilding

No but it seems full of draft picks and new ELC signings

So is Goldy and JV going to be there along with Dahlen?
