You're right, I misspoke, I dont think he is as bad as what is perceived. My intention was to highlight the year before his trade when he was completely shutout I believe by Mtl? - nelson911
Correct....probably the most frustrating series I've had as a fan |

LOL...We don't need Jumbo either. Back to back baby. Can I play around? Thank you. - Barnaby36
I'm not a fan of Jumbo either so I looked up the UFA centers...
No particular order
1. Hanzal
2. Jumbo
3. Bonino
4. Gagner
5. Savard
6. Moore
7. Fisher
8. Weal
9. Boyle
10. Datsyuk
Not a strong list at all. |

Datsyuk will be back in the league? If so he would be my 1st choice.
Anyway, I'd love to re-sign Bonino @ $3.5-4M at max. If he accepts it, do it.
Hanzal is a decent choice too. I like this idea as well.

Datsyuk has one year remaining on his KHL contract. That doesn't mean a ton, but it's something. And I agree, Datsyuk would be an amazing third line center.

He's listed as a UFA but he wo t be coming back... I like Moore, Jumbo, or Hanzal. Having a Face off specialist would be great! |

1st call:
CROSBY: "Hey Jumbo, what's up? Let's get a three-peat? Discount time buddy!"
JUMBO: "Let's do this!"
=====================
2nd call:
MALKIN: "Hey Marleau, most underated player in the NHL. Me score need a wing. Let's get the cup! Need discount. Less money to ask"
MARLEAU: "LOL. Let's do it G!"
DONE DEALS! - Barnaby36
I'm not sure Malkins english is that good |

The issue with Hanzal is his health. He's a good hockey player so long as he's on the ice.
Gagner I think is a realistic target who should be cheap that we should call up.
I'd love Fisher but I bet he's a Pred or retires. Seems like the kind of guy who'll never play anywhere else. His family is clearly very intrenched in that town. |

It's a nice place to live. Also, three Stanley Cups in the past 10 years.
I know DC is really nice place to live as well. When was their last Stanley Cup???
Crickets....
Sorry, but when you take a cheap shot like that you should be prepared for blowback, especially if you're a Caps fan. |

Looks like they resign Bonino for $3-3.5 for 3-4 years. Works for the club and the player, even if overpayment. They both know each other and are a good fit. Jumbo will get north of $4 million per year at age 38 and just not worth the risk. Iginla, anyone?
I'm sure JR wants Bones' agent to test the market. Even the number above is high given his regular season production. |

Geno actually said he thought Marleau was the most underated player in the league.

Problem is he's going to have 4.5-5 offer. He's never been paid before and has cups so going for money makes sense for bones. I think he would take a discount but not 60% of his potential pay. |

I'd like to say he really likes it here and will try to make a deal work... Granted, only hung out with him for about 4 hours, but I know his wife loves the area. |

Everyone likes Joe Thornton, he's a future HOFer w/o a Cup, but he's 38 coming off a serious knee injury and was never known for his speed. I don't really think he fits with the Penguins' current style of play, do you? As appealing as it would be to see him in the black and gold you can't just swap one 38+ year old with another. Cullen outpaced rookies at age 40 for crying out loud.
And for anyone who wants to point to the recent acquisition of Ryan "tank on skates" Reeves" all I know is what I've read which is that Reeves has committed himself over the past two years to improve his skating, speed, and burst. The only Pens player who gets a pass on his speed is Olli Maatta cuz he's the Finnish Fenom who likes to party.
I don't know who GMJR will go after but I do not think Thornton is high on his list. |

I mean Bones was probably the slowest forward we had. And Hainsey was pretty damn slow as well. So yea I think Thornton would work here. Guerin was slow as hell but worked with Sid in 09. Those guys may be slow but their hockey sense and skill make up for it |

I agree to a point... but Sullivan coaches based on his lineup... he has this team play whatever way is necessary. If Joe signs, they will adapt. Personally, I believe Moore, Bones, and Hanzal are the three that the Pens would go after... they need a Face off specialist. |

Hanzal could go for the same price as bonino. I'm thinking around 4.5 mil for 4 years. Who would you guys rather have, Hanzal or Bonino? |

He kept up with Kessel and Hagelin pretty well if memory serves. He's also 29 years old. Thornton had a 37 year old on his left and Pavelski on his right when they made their Cup run and they certainly couldn't keep up with us. Speed may not have been as relevant for Pens this cup run but their MO was still to try to tire the other team out, keep coming and coming.
To me it just doesn't seem like a great fit but if he ends up here I'll be happy to eat crow and root for Jumbo.
In Rutherford we Trust, sorry not sorry Ray. |

Yohe reported recently that Cullen may not retire. If he comes back, I'd like to see him treated like a goalie, resting on back to backs and getting the occasional non-back to back game off to keep him fresh. There were times last year where he looked like he didn't have much left in the tank. - Victoro311
Yeah, he and Rowney rotating would be great - could also rotate depending on the opponent. |

Without Hanzal's injury woes definitely Hanzal. Even still I probably lean Hanzal. I like Nick but I think Hanzal is a better overall hockey player. If we don't sign any other centers, then Bonino for his reliability. If we re-sign Cullen, then I don't know. I think Cullen began to show his age this season. |
